God help the runner keeping him supplied with blocks and mortar. I have done that a couple times on one project. He went easy on me because I was a volunteer. Gloves don't last long.
That vid brought back memories. I've laid block in Guam, Okinawa, Thailand, Puerto Rico and a few other places too. It was fun when I was young. Formed and poured a hell of a lot of concrete too. Even ran the mixers for awhile.
There are nowhere near as many masons around as there were 20 years ago.
Most new construction is metal and glass for commercial and stick frame and vinyl siding for residential.
I am a carpenter and the only brickies I encounter these days are the restoration guys.
They will always be needed in some capacity but times are a changin.
