I found this today and I don't think I've ever seen somebody so enthusiastic about a burger before. Pretty weird but amusing.

Also, now I'm hungry.

Five Guys defines burgers. Except in Emporia Virginia. Eff that bad management and piss poor employees there.

Well, I'd never heard of them, but next time I'm state side I'm definitely going to go looking.

An interesting chain that has been very successful. They started in Northern Virginia, truly by five brothers. They bake their own rolls. In the past two years, they've opened up a massive amount of stores, I'm curious to see if they can maintain their standards. I like their burgers but don't like how they smash the living daylights out of them by wrapping in foil, that puzzles me.

Oral-gasmic is the only word to describe them. They have a really great thing going there. They cut fresh potatoes every day for their fries. They hand make all their patties. There are quite a few now here in the Kansas City area and I haven't tried one yet that wasn't great. Jimmy John's on the other hand has gone down hill quite a bit with over building and lack of quality control.

I like their burgers. Johnny Rockets is a little better in my opinion.

In almost any city there are family owned places that can put them both to shame. We have three local places I would rather go any day.

The "and fries" part is the best part. Their burgers are so-so.
I agree. Assuming that you're talking about the Cajun fries....

The burgers are good. But the hot dogs are my favorite!

Also, they use FRESH jalapeños not pickled

NO. You will not give me another reason to go back there.

The cajun fries rule but I think the burgers are p good too (especially compared to what I have locally). Also love that they have free peanuts!

Had luch there, today. Bacon cheeseburger, cajun fries, root beer. I was stuffed. Best burgers in town.

Well they first appeared in San Diego on all the Naval bases... And I happen to work on base so for the longest time I was going there for lunch like 3 times a week lol I wouldn't get a burger though; too filling!

My go-to order was:

Small (but HUGE) Cajun fries
Grilled cheese with mushroom and jalapeño
Iced tea.

Then I would go out back and smoke :)

Five Guys is pretty damn good. They're making a splash around my way as well.

However they cannot touch a small chain of Burger joints called Burgers and Brew. There's one in Davis and another in Sacramento. Fierce beer selection including Russian River's Pliny the Elder on tap. Great fries and burgers, with some of the thickest juiciest slices of bacon. Ridiculously good.

Oop, just found their website. There's one by Sierra College in Rocklin, I just drove by that intersection today. Next time I'm there..... We'll see if it's better than In and Out.

One in Natomas too. Just recently opened.

Have you been to Burgers and Brew?

Our local places are better but Hard Rock Cafe gets an honorable mention. I would eat at Hard Rock before 5 Guys.
