Hey guys. New to pipe smoking, but not tobacco. Name here is John. Been smoking Nat Sherman cigs and the odd cigar for years. Just decided this week to try a pipe, so grabbed me a Dr. Grabow's, and a corn cob..and some Captain Black Gold on a whim. You know what, if I'm enjoying the CB this much, can't wait to try some 'good' tobacco.
Anyway looking forward to picking many brains here and learning a bunch. Just figured out today, that tamping works a lot better while puffing lol. Wish I had a neighbor or friend into pipes, but the internet is always a grand place for info. Enough for now - John RXMAN

Welcome to BoB John...Im at the shore as well and a RPH as well

Wow, Doc. Small world. Can u recommend a local shop? I'm pretty close, up in Long Branch. It would be treat to swap counter stories with you as well. Too funny, thanks for the welcome. - John

Welcome! Do they let you smoke your pipe in the Atlantic City casinos???

Greetings! I work occasionally on the Jersey shore and have found one nice pipe shop, but I can't recall the town or name...
It is near the Marriott Fairway Villas Resort close to Atlantic City and Absecon. He had a nice tobacco and pipe selection.

This cigar link lists a number of NJ locations, but you'd have to call/google to see if they do pipes:

If you find a good place, definitely pass it on, I save locations for my travels.

Welcome, John. Don't worry about how to or what to too much, you'll figure it our soon. Also, do a search as there are numerous threads addressing your concerns.

What part of the Garden State shores are you from? I used to paddle the Pine Barrons (what a fantastic wilderness area in the middle of the east-coast megalopolis) and birded a fair amount along the northern coast. And no, I never saw the Jersey Devil!

Hi,

If you travel to Princeton area, stop by at Little Taste of Cuba. I hang out with my (mostly cigar smoking) buddies there pretty often. The Manager Liam is also a pipe smoker. They have a wide range of tin, pouch and bulk tobacco, as well as a decent collection of pipes of Savinelli, Peterson, Radice, Tim West and CAO Meers...

Happy puffs

Hank
