So I was a little worried at the first sniff of the SG Special Flakes, but #5 isn't too shabby! My first dive into Lakelands was Grousemoor Plug awhile back and I couldn't stand it. Forced my way through a few bowls and had to trade it off. Then when I put together the first Synjeco group buy I got a little sample of RB Plug and fell in love with it. Maybe my tastes have changed some, but RB and this Special Flake is nowhere as off putting as that Grousemoor was.
 
So, I got the box today! And when I cracked open the seal, I could smell the wonderful aroma of the baccy.

I was told to dive in, and I did just that.

FYI.... check all the baggies. Tillbury was bagged together in a third bag, as was the 1931, and the LBF with the FVF. This was done to preserve flavor as we don't want "soap" taste in those blends. LOL

Thank you for allowing me to join in. I dug deep for my oldest VA blends and added extra as my cellar is still fairly young. I hope I didn't disappoint.

The box will be going to Grampa Grossbart next. It will be shipped out tomorrow.
 
I am happily exhausted and enjoying a smooth, tasty bowl of the Galaher mellow virginia. It smells of fresh bread and honey, and it tastes so smooth too.

Well done, chaps, and woohoo, me! I've got a similar sitchyation to Doc in that I can't pick up packages on the weekends, so unless it comes in tomorrow I won't be able to snag it until after work on Monday. But I've got everything lined up, so as soon as I get it there'll be a quick turnaround.

I've seen the trade rate is going up with the box's recent custodians. Tracking this thing is a hoot. And one of my put ins got snagged! Box pass rules.

I have a tin of Iwan Reis English blend from 1998 that I thought about putting in there (i saw a tin go for $75 on 4noggins), but thought better of it.... lest I get a whooped up on. That is my oldest tin. I kinda felt bad taking some really aged samples when I didn't have any that old, (that is until I started smoking on them.. oh heavens they are good!). :twisted: :lol!: However, I did put the Esoterica Tilbury from 2000 in there. It was the last of it I had. Someone is going to enjoy it :)

My only request...if the players remaining would do me the favor of leaving me the tin of Capstan Blue (if it's the flake) or at least split it with me, I'd appreciate it. Always wanted to try Tolkien's preferred.

I'll be sure to open the tin, remove the Capstan, replace it with dried out, home-pressed "flakes" of Mixture 79, and put the tin back in the box leave it for you...no problem!
 
I really was torn between not saying anything and trusting to luck vs voicing my request and having it lead to a round of merry pranking.

I'll know better in the future. :fpalm:

Once I have the box, I don't expect to have it for more than a day or two before I turn it around...either that or I'll abscond with the lot and hide out somewhere in the Caymans, never to be seen again!
