Over the last couple of days I have been trying something different in my smoking routine.

Smoking 2 different pipes and tobaccos at the same time in rotation.

I will start off with an English or Virginia tobacco and smoke about 1/2 bowl then fire up a new bowl of the different tobacco, smoke 1/2 of it and then finish the 1st bowl.

So, for example if the 1st bowl is English the 2nd will be Virginia and vice versa.

The taste variance is incredible when switching back and forth.

Last night went from Dunhill Light Flake to GLPease Samarra and back to the LF.

Very enjoyable change of pace!

Anyone else ever try this technique???

I've actually done this when not really trying. I may have a friend that will ask me to keep something burning for him while he went off for a little while. This leaving me with two pipes or one pipe and one cigar. I've noticed that it is almost like a sprig of mint before dessert. It cleanses the palate. Funny you mentioned it.

Sounds like the pipe version of "double fisting" (having an open beer in each hand).
