...stopping at a small deserted island, the location of which is a closely guarded secret, the band of merry pranksters takes on natural provisions...filling all the water barrels and collectiong coconuts, pineapples, lychee, wild rose hips, several pigs and a number of wild hens...

...feeling protected and at ease Captain Black Hearse and Mr. Smee open a case if fine rum, take out 3 one quart bottles, re-nail the case and stow it...in another wood box they fine a doozen new shovels and take nine, then gather the crew, setting the three bottles along the fo'c's'le railing for all to see and lean the shovels close by....

"All right you lot, it's time for a little pirate fun, sez I. I got maps an shovels an rum. Divide up into groups o'three, every man take a shovel, pick a leader and get out there and find the chest o'loot that there map'l lead ye to. Bring back the chest and we'll have Smee here spit and roast one o'them pigs, pop the corks on that rum and break out the volleyball nets! It's time for a little beach party!"

"Oh! We'll also divvy up that chest while we're about it.

Two hours later the chest has been recovered, the pig prepped and roasting on a fine fire, the rum passed around, and the treasure spread out for all to see.

OK boys, Smee drew the lots and here's yer pick order...so mind yer manners and state yer claims, bein' all gentleman like...or I'll blow yer eyeballs ta China, that I will!

If this isn't obvious, you can ask questions.

Go on then, don't be shy!

#2 shall do for me, sir! I be wantin to try a clay pipe for a while.

So...I'm going for the fathead cob...fitting. And I think maybe I'll visit the forever stem store and customize it with a longish bing style stem in a rakish pirate hue...eh, Mr. Smee? That'll be right festive, wot?

Turn into one like this...

But then...there are lots o'choices!

Looks like a fine set of treasure for the crew, sir! Let's see which pipe goes next to the far north

I used to see these guys at local bars back in the day--never knew Boatswain Fatman made it as far south as Spanish waters! I present The Alaskan Pirate and His Salty Seamen. Site's is safe for work, basic old school music page, though their lyrics can be a bit...salty.

Looking at the loverly pipes, I choose #8!

Arrrrrrrrrrg, and be it known to all ye side stepping beach creatures, the Fatman is a confirmed Trusty Shellback, and has also been indoctrinated into the Realm of Boreas Rex!

A wide-ranging traveler indeed!  I hope that pipe brings you much enjoyment!  :pirat:

one clay, three cobs, and two briars to go!

#1 for me, then, for it's widely known that cream floats to the top! Always dreamed of a tavern pipe to enjoy in calm harbors...

Don't know if it's quite long enough to be called a tavern, but those take a bit longer to smoke than you might suspect. The tobacco really tamps down!

So long as it makes me look like I'm in a Hogarth print, I'll be happy as a pig in the proverbial!

That it should! Those are v nice for flakes and ropes, if you're like me and don't really rub them out much

I will be out today looking for treasure and I do not want to hold up the process my picks in order will be # 7, and then #9 arrrrrrrrrrrrrr

And so, to keep on moving toward the main treasure, the crew returns to the ship and starts off again...still in the midst of picking pipes.

The Cap'n. muses..."Hmmm. Number 7...number 9...pieces of EIGHT I be thinking! Har, har....."

"Avast! What be that rank smell...and that commotion over the port side...go lookee Mr. Smee!  What!  All hands...to stations...we be attacked by a monster from the deep!!!  Smee...lower the longboat and harpoon the Beastie afore it does some kind of foul damage. Look lively there lads! Feel free t'bless that Beastie with a musket ball if ye gets a clean shot!"

"My God! It bit clean through his oar!"

Lordee, they be tearing each other apart. It be our good luck, that.

Well, that's a blessin'!

Escaping . . . I mean, under full sail away from the roiling waters, Captain!

-grumbling- off to laundry detail. . . .
