Sanatizing

Just curious about how people go about sanitizing used pipes that you get from like ebay or other places. And cleaning stems, some of mine stems look kind of bad. Can I just use a dremal with a buffing attachment? Is so what kind of compound would be best for a stem?

There's this once you've washed it to your liking. Sounds like it is great stuff, but it's pricey.

As for the pipe, I use the alcohol and cotton ball method inside the bowl. I'd like to try a retort. They can be found on eBay and see videos on youtube.

Honestly I'm not too particular any more. I will sterilize with Everclear but unless the oxidation is really bad I frequently will just leave it. I will cut the cake back sometimes all the way back to bare wood and swab with the alcohol. For me it's the insides that matter get them clean and the rest is cosmetic.

Don't get me wrong I do too but most pipes I pick up lately are beaters. So worrying about cosmetic is slightly pointless. Now if I picked up a nice Dunny or something worth some coin of course of clean it until the whole thing shone like a new penny.
