Have reservations for Oct. 3-5 at Manzanita Lake { Lassen Volcanic Park }
Long range weather is showing Hi's in the low 40's dipping down to
mid 20's at night. what do you think? Should I tell the Wife , or let her find out for
herself when she wakes up to snow on the ground

Colder weather camping is fantastic. Fewer, if any, people around. No bugs. Pure joy. Dress and prepare correctly, and you're set to go. Having said that, I would tell her. She can properly prepare and then can't blame you.

Depends on whether you want to be carried off the mountain by strangers or not.
Good point, I could end up like the Donner Party, They'd find my body
next May when the snow melts.
