Have you ever wondered how smoking pipes are made? Many people know that briar wood is the most common material, but few know where it is found, or how to harvest, cut and cure it for use in pipes. Enter Mimmo, a second generation briar cutter in Northern Italy who supplies top quality briar to pipe makers and factories around the world. Meet him and learn about his passion and his process in this charming three-part video.

See more of Mimmo in the feature documentary, Father the Flame, now available online

What a great video. Makes you appreciate the huge amount of work that goes into even the humblest of briar pipes.

I am not much on most YouTube videos, but I watched all of this and enjoyed it a lot. I like having a little insight into the process and the people involved.
