I really look forward to this event every year. I will be there very early Friday trough late Monday

I looked up flights ($350), checked the room rate deal ($250 W tax) figured in meals ($150) and one pipe via purchase (@ $250). That's a grand. Too much for my budget I'm thinkin'. Love to though.

What I'd REALLY love to do would be to drive down. Funny. One overnight each way. Overall cost to drive is about the same as flying.

I'd love to, but just too far and too expensive. It's really sad, the lack of pipe shows on the west coast. Been to a couple, loved it.There was one several years ago in (I think) Merced, ca, then the Reno show in one of the Casinos. That I can do, a couple hour drive. Beyond that, not happening.

Same here. With the cost of transportation and room, I could buy several nice pipes of the estate suppliers.
I would sure like to go. I did attend the last show in Sacramento years back.

:pale:

I'm only going for one day, Saturday. But I bought the tix early, so it worked out to be $75 each way. I'm ready to go! :bounce:

Question: how can it be the West Coast Pipe Show when it's held way back over the mountains in the desert? You'd think it would be done in LA, or San Francisco, or Coos Bay...maybe even San Juan Island!!!

The title is more a catch all term for the region.

From what I understand of what Marty Pulvers told me, as well as speaking with the pipe veterans of the bay area, it is the spiritual successor to the Burlingame pipe show, since defunct due to CA indoor smoking laws.

Wish I could make it Josh! Looking forward to seeing a few pics of the action.

I'll be going to the show as usual. This is a yearly event for me and wouldn't miss it. It's a bit of a haul from Boston but I'll spend a week there. Arriving Wednesday and leaving Tuesday. PLEASE stop by the table and say HI unless I run into you beforehand. Wish more fellow Brothers could make it.

It was a great show! I had a lot of fun, despite only going for Saturday.

I:
  • briefly ran in to daveinlax again;
  • got to meet Joe Hinkle, Abe Herbaugh, Tyler Lane Beard, and Bobby Nesbitt of Twofriendspipes, who were new to the WCPS this time;
  • met Premal Chheda, who generously offered his carving expertise and business savvy
  • met Scott Tinker, who crafted the beautiful, oval curly maple pipe stand shown below that I won in last month's Carvers Helping Carvers raffle
  • met THE Tom Eltang!!! :face:
  • and reconnected with all the guys who made it to the show last year--Nathan Armentrout, Ernie Markle, Nate King, Don Marshall, Jared and John of J&J pipes, Dr. Bob, and Frank Sorriano of Sorringowl & Sons.

Sadly I didn't take too many pictures of the people and tables at the show--there's so much to see--but here are a couple interesting ones for a little chuckle. See who you can spot in the background!

And, here's my haul! I got 4 pipes this time; only one was smooth for a change. I got to meet the carvers of 3 of them--one of which from our very own Jesse for Chheda Pipes.

Man, those are some fantastic pipes.

Great photos, Josh. Thanks for sharing..

I checked on flights early but did not see anything light $150 round trip. How did you find yours? And, how early? I hope for next year.

I bought my flights back in June, took the early morning, went back home at night. I guess you just have to be willing to go early.

I hope to have a table (or at least 1/2 table) next year! :face:
