Louisiana Red in a straight Lane era Charatan black with burgundy undertone sandblasted billiard 420.
 
Bosphrous Cruise in a medium bend 2001 Ural lattice Rhodesian with a yellow stem with white swirls.
 
Just finished smoking Kendal's #7 in a 1970s slight bend black sandblasted Comoy's Silver Cloud 624. Next is 1980s Sir Walter Raleigh in a medium bend 2002 MM Legend cob.
 
Angler's Dream in a 1980 three quarter bend briar Butz-Choquin 55 skull bowl pipe.
 
Last night was GL Pease Stratford in an American Tanshell Canadian
 
MacBaren Navy Flake in a 1998 smooth straight Butz-Choquin Bistro 1501 pot.
 
I am still working on the 5100, but I will be heading to work when I finish it. I will have a Sydney P Ram short billiard with Old Companion for the drive.

On my second bowl of Royal Yacht this morning, this one in a GBD Virgin pot w/ replacement Perspex stem I got back in the early 70's.

I am a fan of Old Companion. I go through phases, but it has been my goto smoke for a while. I find it works very well in the Rock Cob.

Pretty much any non aromatic tobacco smokes good in the pipestone, but i am finding out that some tobacco really does burn hotter than others....

The pipe got warm, but not any warmer than a cob or a briar. There is an awareness of bowl temp because for me anyway it is not a clencher - so like a calabash or a figural meer. It is being held or at least partially supported by the hand.

I am glad to know about the Plumcake. I have an open tin of it and like it. It seems to smoke cool in the briars I am using, and there is no sense in messing with a good thing...
