What is a good brand of dress shoe?

Here's an unconventional choice: Footjoy. You think their golf shoes are comfortable and well-made, try their dress shoes. I've had three pairs for 30 years and they have held up very well! I've replaced their soles numerous times, and been happy I've done it every time. I do like Allen Edmunds...

    S&R pipes

I'm glad someone came through for you. I frequent Pipes and Pleasures weekly and can tell you that Roswitha continues to produce some great pipes! Don't know why you're not able to reach anyone by phone, as it seems they get plenty of calls. It's a great shop to sit and smoke and talk to a...

    Check your Six.

This topic is a bit early in the year for me. I usually wait to discuss this kind of thing in "Proctober"

Interesting concept of "a place to smoke my pipe"....

I have always refrained from smoking indoors, even during my bachelorhood after a 13 year marriage ended (twelve years ago). I hit the jackpot with my bride of one year (my junior of 12 years, incidentally)! She likes my pipe smoking and encourages it! My birthday was this month to which she...

    Kitchen knives and cookware

I could not do without my four star Henkels knife set I put together or my caphalon commercial cookware. My wife is also forbidden from using them (I've caught her twice trying to load them into the dishwasher).

    Elementary

I think its a clever take on Sherlock Holmes: A reforming drug-addict with his rehabilitation counselor. The eccentricities of the character keeps it interesting. I also enjoy the BBC Sherlock and Bilbo show and am curious if they're filming any more episodes. Currently, my wife and I are...

    New guy to the forum.

Welcome Gene. I worked in Boaz years ago while living in Gunnersville, AL. Pretty piece of the country!! I picked up two Dunhill pipes for $5.00 and a Dunhill lighter for $50.00 at the unclaimed freight store at the outlets. Good times.

so.. What made you wanna smoke a pipe?

I'm always amazed at how much my grandfather influenced me. And judging from many of the earlier posts, picking up a pipe due to one's grandfather is a recurrent theme. I started smoking at 20 (now creeping up to 54) with a purchase of a couple churchwarden clays.

What was your worst ever smoking pipe?

My dunhill cavilier. The bloody thing cannot stay lit. Don't know why I keep it.

    Hello from Columbus, OH

Welcome Ben. I experienced Smoker's Haven for the first time last November as a member of the Craven Street Society. Your shop was accommodating, friendly, and the staff well-informed and helpful. Your inventory of pipes and tobaccos are second to none and I was most impressed by the variety and...

    Any port drinkers out there?

I enjoy a Fonseca port, on occasion.

The best smoker on your rack that shouldn't be the best...

I laughed when I saw this post. I was thinking this the other day as I enjoyed a smoke from a premier selection Peterson that I picked up from an estate sale in Chattanooga, TN back in '87 for a buck. Of course it and the Dunhill billiard I also purchased (for a buck) started me down the estate...

    What Are You Reading?

Finished a quick read, "The Alchemist"--a bit sophomoric for my liking. I picked it up a couple years back and forgot about it (in the back seat of my car). It was a best-seller in its day, although I can't imagine why. I'm enjoying the new Bogart biography, "Tough Without a Gun". Very well...
