    Smoking technique

I like to sometimes take the smoke from my mouth and exhale it out my nose - not on every puff but frequently - as it adds to the flavor. I contend that the smoke is going from my mouth, into my nasopharynx, then out my nose, while my wife says I must be inhaling the smoke into my lungs then out...

Briar - seems mysterious to me

With any other type of wood, be it walnut, pine, maple, when I think of "grain" I think of the lines created by the annual growth rings. With Briar, the "grain" I think I am seeing are the vascular channels that run through the burl. On my smooth pipes I can clearly see this grain, and I can see...

How to store my unused tobacco

I buy my tobacco in a 12 ounce bag, and my humidor holds about half of it. That 6 ounces lasts me, I bet, 2 months, smoking maybe 5-6 bowls a week. What should I do with the other 6 ounces in the meantime? Right now I have it in the original bag, closed as airtight as I can, in the freezer. Is...

    More fill than briar???

ummm. what I meant to say plumbernator is that the defect on that 303 is so awful, so horrible, so unsightly that I simply can not allow a person of your stature to smoke it. I will, therefore, take it off your hands :lol!: That is some of the nicest birdseye I have seen on a system pipe...

    More fill than briar???

Yes, that is exactly what I see on some of mine. As long as there isn't a defect in the chamber that can cause a burnthrough, I simply cant see what all the fuss is about. I agree Kyle, that birdseye would make me overloook half a dozen small fills.

    More fill than briar???

Reading an older post about Petersons on this forum, and at least one person made the above comment in the title of this post. I have a few Petes, some high end and some lower end like Arans. Can't honestly say I see much in the way of fill in the lower end pipes, but then again maybe I don't...

My new BST (Sasquatch) pipe is here!!

And what a beaut. He promises to do all he can to make his pipe the best smoker you own, and so far I have to agree. I have Petersons, and a few Italians. I like the size, weight, vulcanite bits, and classic good looks of the Petes, but the open draw of the Italians. I don't so much like the...

Can post pictures now - my collection

Airborne - the Pease/DiPiazza is beautiful and a fabulous smoker, but already my clenching has caused an indentation that will sooner or later crack, right where my tooth hits just in front of the button. Compared to the Moretti Morta, it is much less friendly to clench. I just bought a package...
