Snowpocalypse 2016 has passed (at least around here) and today is Dig Out Day. It's important to be properly prepared though. So, I think a very large bowl of Orlik Dark Strong Kentucky in a Missouri Meerschaum General is required before the festivities begin.

More snow means more meerschaum. Right now, it's Dunhill Flake in an IMP paneled horn. A man could get used to this, you know.

Thanks to a little weather-related downtime, I'm able to give the meerschaums a much needed workout. Right now, it's an introductory bowl of Herbert Motzek's Herbst 84 in a claw. Now, this may not be a fair comparison, but this blend is everything that I wanted Dunhill's EMP to be, but wasn't...

I thought about trying to shoot a pretty "pipe and snow" photo this morning, but at the rate it's falling I'd have a snowcap on the bowl before I could get the camera focused. So, instead, you get an indoor photo of a warm and cozy MM Patriot packed with some delicious Escudo.

Home for the day... Actually, I'm probably home for at least a couple of days if the weather has anything to say about it. While I'm sure that there will be no lack of things to complain about during that time, this is a good thing at the moment. There's plenty of work to be done around here...

Just got home for the day. Time for some Orlik Dark Strong Kentucky in a custom-rusticated Medico Jet Stream before I start preparing for the coming icepocalypse. Remember when I was complaining about the unseasonably warm weather a few weeks ago? I take it all back.

This evening, it's a bowl of Frog Morton's Cellar in an Old Rarity. I know that this blend is well liked by many and I can kind of see why, but it never quite hits the mark for me. I like it well enough to keep trying though.

I'm going all Grizzly Adams at lunchtime today with some C&D Grand Croupier Double Down in a roadside distraction cherrywood. Now, where did I put that bear..?

This afternoon, it's Mac Baren Modern Virginia in a horn-stemmed, meerschaum-lined Le Duc. By no means will this blend convince me to change my religion, but it works pretty well as a simple, tasty, and nearly effortless smoke.

Well, that was quick. Just a few hours later and just about all the snow is gone and it's dry enough to take the dog to the park along with some Bayou Morning in a Dr. Grabow Savoy. Judging by the entrance walkway, I think the park maintenance guys have been taking an extended holiday vacation...

My opinion of Irish Dew is that it's a perfectly "meh" vabur. Not wonderful. Not horrible. Just meh.
