    Cooked Pipes

very interesting thread, thanks schacht and also jar for the explanation. mankind loves taboos and defending them passionately. if makers didn't experiment, we'd never have briar pipes. kudos to those who dare to try something different. double kudos if it actually works.

    My New Nosewarmer

that's a very cool looking pipe. i like the straight grain with the rustication: looks interesting and gives the pipe a good grip too. the thick bowl walls should give you a cool smoke and i'm especially fond of acrylic bits, they're far easier to care for and resistant than vulcanite. if the...

Can you get Good quality pipes for a hundred bucks or less.

yeah, they're very cool looking, but more importantly, they smoke real good. i happen to have a few and they're all excellent. and you're right, it's hard to beat the price. correction: i said shipping on the site, was free but i checked and that's not true (sorry). it's 5 bucks, which seems...

Can you get Good quality pipes for a hundred bucks or less.

...this is likely a very fine pipe. i just got a tim west a week ago. the briar is really something. very lightweight and sturdy. the leather bag is awesome too: http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Tim-West-Old-West-Briar-Pipe-made-w-50-Y-O-B-/310308057897 this looks like a very nice pipe too... i think...

try an american pipe. in that price range you can get a lot more bang for your buck with a leedy, tim west, hackert (as mentioned). i've tried them all and they're excellent smokes. you can also get a very good danish estate freehand for that price.

    Hello from Japan

wow, that'd be simply awesome, but don't feel obliged in any way, please. i'd be content with your impressions on it, if you do come across it by chance. i read somewhere it's not easily available, but i guess that depends where you are in japan. glad you liked the video. this here is my...

    Hello from Japan

you are correct, i may need 2 or 3 bowls of perique in a kiseru. i find any shag cut tobacco can be smoked in it as long as it's moist enough to be rolled into a ball. i've read about the japanese angel hair tobacco (koiki kizami i think it's called). i've seen videos of it being made and...

Help me out with my next PAD

the leedys are usually quite large too. just finished one with a huge 1 and 1/8th inch wide chamber. feeling a little lightheaded. interesting that it seems to smoke cooler than smaller chambers.
