    Broken Pipe

Dear brothers, It is with a sad and heavy heart that I must inform you of the passing of Pieter Claasen a.k.a. SpeedyPete. Pieter was diagnosed with colon cancer in late March and underwent surgery on 17 April. He never fully recovered and passed away in hospital earlier today. It was on this...

    Bic to light your pipe?

I use these. Pretty compact, reliable, and saves burned fingers:

What Makes A Pipe A Great Smoker?

Well, I certainly don't have the experience as most of the posters here, and I am consequently rather mystified by the topic. I can say this, though. I am fortunate to have 2 Goussards in my collection along with some Dunnies, Charatans and other old Brit wood and whatnot. I can thus vouch for...

Wow. What a great thread. Thanks to all those who shared their knowledge.

    WWII Pics of my Grandfather

Very cool, indeed. My father was dispatch rider too. North Africa. He was captured at Tobruk by Rommel's troops and spent 4 years as a POW. It is well that we remember and honour that generation.

    Peterson Christmas Pipe 2016

I have 6 Petes, all estates. Let's see now. A Pre-rep Bullcap which I don't smoke often due to its diminutive bowl. A system 309, two Kildares (105 and a 68), A Flame Grain 1/4 bent Brandy, and a recently acquired Donegal Rocky 999. The 05 Kildare smokes hot as a pistol and the Flame Grain...

    Seven Day Set, or sets.

Amazing stuff, gentlemen. By happenstance much more than design, my collection is quite eclectic, but with a stroke of good fortune I acquired my 5th Dunnie yesterday. So we shall see. . . In the meantime keep the pipe porn coming, gents.

    Comoy's 409 Tradition Restored

Absolutely cracking classic pipe, and outstanding resto as usual, Al. My congratulations on both accounts.

First Barling and a dating question

Greetings, all. I picked up this Barling’s make locally for a shade over 30$ recently. No visible fills, and it cleaned up nicely with little effort. It had some minor damage on the outer rim and a small stem/shank gap issue which I managed to largely sort out by taking shade off the end of the...

Never, NEVER thought I'd do it, but I did......

Congrats on your purchase. If it smokes well now, it can only get better. I now have 4 Dunnies (all estates); a '64 (birth year), two '67's and a recently acquired 1986 Wangee. All of them smoke wonderfully. Welcome to the club. Let me share with you some tongue in cheek advice I gave...

Thanks for this stick. I love good radio, of which there is a dire shortage here in SA. I think you may be my new best friend!

    Ooops! Overreamed some cake.

Yuuuhhp. On the head, Stick. I've never had need of a reamer. A bit of rolled up 220 grit sandpaper is all I've ever needed. Better control and less risk of disaster, I think.

    Dr Plumb's Pipes

I have one which I resurrected a bit, and it's a great smoker, and day-to-day pipe. You can see a few pics here: https://www.brothersofbriar.com/t32318-ramble-on-a-dr-plumb-rerestostoration
