    My tastes have changed?

All I know is I'm going to have to try some more aromatics. So far I love Boswell's Best. The vanilla is actually there supporting the tobaccos. I heard Berry Cobbler is pretty good too.

    My tastes have changed?

Anyone ever get that when pipe smoking? For the past few months I have been really into Va/Pers. But for the past few weeks something is just going wrong. Maybe it is the heat. Maybe it is the size of the bowl. I don't know. But I just find Escudo to be harsh tasting to me. And the nicotine hit...

    What are you smoking?

Escudo Navy De Luxe in a Savinelli. Maybe it is just the heat or my tastes are changing, but Lord...nicotine city. Perhaps perique and I just don't get along.  Smoked some Dunhill London Mixture the other night after a barbeque. Could smoke that stuff all day, though!

    Your favorite Aromatic

So I have a cheapo Dr. Grabow sitting here. I decided I'd dedicate it to aromatics. That said, I'm at a loss. Back in college, I started out with cherry backy. Burned my tongue like crazy until I was introduced to some McClelland Va/Pers. Then I married the old woman and settled down for a bit...

Royal Yacht is something I've been meaning to try.

    Clay tobacco pipes

Yeah. I can remember in the early nineties before she died my grandmother and my mother trying to get her to quit. "I'm in my nineties," she said. "I am not stopping now." She claimed that tobacco kept worms away and somehow acted as a preventative for allergies and sinus infections. She...

    What are you smoking?

Smoking some Dunhill Nightcap in my clay after a lovely dinner of grilled steaks, mashed taters, and green peas, all washed down with a cold Budweiser.

    Clay tobacco pipes

My great-grandmother smoked a clay as well. And she dipped Garrett's Sweet Tobacco. I'm not sure what she smoked though but she lived to be almost a hundred and had every tooth in her mouth before she died.

    Clay tobacco pipes

The Dutch pipes are good. You can find them on eBay if you know where to look. Honestly, I am not a big briar smoker. I prefer clays and cobs. Aside from a Grabow and a few Savinellis, when I want to smoke I turn to my clay. Besides, Insm always smoking/sampling new tobaccos that I don't have...

    The health case FOR smoking

I've been reading up a lot of this lately. I know it is a semi-old post, but I thought I'd add my two cents. Fact 1: I'm going to die. Fact 2: You are going to die as well. Is pipe smoking a dangerous hobby? Yes. You could drop your pipe in your lap and burn your crotch! Just kidding. Yes...

    Rim Weeping

Do you have photos of this? I've had pipes "bubble" in my college days before from puffing too hot, being full of pee and vinegar. And being inexperienced and just stupid I'd smoke them until the finish would head and bubble. Thankfully, they were cheapo bin pipes. Are you smoking them too hot?

    Aging Peterson's perect plug?

Perhaps a little bit of both!

    Dunhill Nightcap

I guess I am in the minority. I love London Mixture when I do want an English. But I just do not absolutely LOVE Dunhill's Nightcap. Which was unfortunate because I was gifted a tin of the stuff.

    Cellaring Ennerdale

I cellar everything in Ball Mason Jars and just keep them in a closet in the basement. Would this work?

    Jackknife plug

Yeah. I tamped it down. Duh. You live and you learn.
