Smoking some Dunhill Nightcap in my clay after a lovely dinner of grilled steaks, mashed taters, and green peas, all washed down with a cold Budweiser.

My great-grandmother smoked a clay as well. And she dipped Garrett's Sweet Tobacco. I'm not sure what she smoked though but she lived to be almost a hundred and had every tooth in her mouth before she died.

Do you have photos of this? I've had pipes "bubble" in my college days before from puffing too hot, being full of pee and vinegar. And being inexperienced and just stupid I'd smoke them until the finish would head and bubble. Thankfully, they were cheapo bin pipes. Are you smoking them too hot?

I guess I am in the minority. I love London Mixture when I do want an English. But I just do not absolutely LOVE Dunhill's Nightcap. Which was unfortunate because I was gifted a tin of the stuff.

I've tried rubbing this stuff out and it is hard to keep it lit. I'm going to try smoking it tomorrow morning though. I chopped it up into tiny cubes with my trusty Opinel and tried packing it into my pipe. Maybe I just need to rub the stuff out more? Or take some culinary scissors and chop it...
