What I have done is to steam the tobacco with water with some 12 year old Rum. The fragance is exquisite but you actually dont directly affect the tobacco with the rum.

I dont see much point in buying more stock than you consume in a year. The risk of negatively affecting your tobacco by keeping it in not proper conditions at home is much higher that the little improvement, if any, you will get by "ageing" the tobacco.

Yes, I dont why I missed such a big point!!! Pipes are actually more expensive than the tobacco you are going to smoke at least in the first year.I guess if you are going to be really serious about this hobby, you will have to allocate at least a 1000 bucks more as an initial investment for pipes.
