    Motorcycle madness

Im a fairly tall guy at 6'3"+ and the cruiser riding position kills my back. I seriously considered the new Honda CB 1100 but it wasn't retro enough… and I love the upswept pipes on the Scrambler. That being said the only other bikes I might consider adding (strictly for road trips) are a Road...

    Motorcycle madness

I'm with you, man. Full face helmet, mesh jacket with Kevlar shoulders/elbows, jeans and good riding boots… and good gloves. I'd rather sit our in July and August here in Texas than take a chance. Spring is a no brainer. September, October and even into November, ride's pretty nice. Love the...

    HOF : Jerome !

Well, I'm a Cowboy fan so you know there's no love lost between the Boys and the Steelers. Watching The Bus take that hit and then getting right back up and straight to the huddle is so old school. No jawing, no trash talk, no getting up in someone's face. It's like he says, "Big deal, you...

What Are Your Drinking Right Now

    Well, I have a surly 17yo... so I'm turning to a 12yo. 4 fingers of Aberfeldy 12 yo.

    BCS UGLY!!!!!

 Homer! Hey, I'm not knockin the Aggies, yes they outplayed them that day. But, if they played Bama 10 times in a row, their 2012 team against Bama's 2012 team, that one win would be the only one A&M gets. A&M is a very solid team, as is Notre Dame, who went 12-0 in the regular season...

    Kitchen knives and cookware

Second that. Dutch oven, two skillets and a corn bread mold. Corn bread from a skillet in the oven with homemade butter is dang near close to heaven. I have 2 really well made knives and a quality cleaver. Everything else is semi-quality. Tried a ceramic knife once.... key word there being once.

    BCS UGLY!!!!!

Not a fluke. The Aggies outplayed them.

    Walking around Kennall Vale

I had to come back and look at these pics again. I think every man has a place in his soul that yearns for the beauty, peace and simplicity of a setting like this. Again, thanks for posting. (It would also be a moonshiner's dream. Undisturbed woods, clean, clear, cool water. Makes my mouth...

    Walking around Kennall Vale

I was thinking the same thing as I rolled through the pictures. Of course, East Texas is pretty green, but not like that. I spend a lot of time in NJ and that's about as close to these pics I've ever seen.... someday though.

Anyone a "prepper"? (At least well prepared?)

Dover, I started thinking about some other options to add to the pellet gun and my 870. Ran across a Ruger 10/22 takedown model at Academy and really liked it. http://www.ruger.com/products/1022Takedown/models.html Cheap ammo, quiet and almost anyone can handle it. Reliable as they come. Easy...

    What Are You Reading?

I just finished Brethren by Robin Young and picked up the Black Company Chron from Half Price Books on Monday. Diving into it this weekend.

    Red Wing boots

Nice. Remind me a little of a lace up roper. I'm a Justin roper kinda guy. Cat's Paw sole. Very comfy. Wife got me some Wolverine Wellington rubber sole work boots. We'll see how they hold up.

    A pipe and... tea?

I'm sure there are a significant number of folks who are much more educated than me who can tell me how to brew a good cup of tea. A friend gave me a few ounces of black tea and I have no clue on how much to brew, for how long and what I'm supposed to add. (Maybe other than gin or bourbon :D )...

    Favorite Book?

That and Raymond Feist's Magician. One drawback to these series are the sheer number of books in the series. Three is plenty. Never picked up Robert Jordan. David Gemmell Troy series is one of the best I've ever read. I like historical fiction.

Anyone a "prepper"? (At least well prepared?)

After talking with several folks, I've added a new tool to the bag. Some of you will probably scoff at the notion but to me, it makes some sense. We purchased a Benjamin Trail NP All weather .22 pellet gun. Yup. A pellet gun. It's a break barrel model with a gas or nitro style piston. Velocity...

    Pipesmoking and stress

Right there with you. I'm an aspiring writer and when I'm in outline or creative process mode, a pipe seems to help. My creative partner and I usually grab a scotch or a cold beer, a pipe of cigar and throw out ideas. Works well. On the other hand, when I'm stressed a pipe is not on the agenda...

    Single Malt Value

Oh my dear Lord. I'm currently up for adoption... Harlock, I just picked up a bottle of Ardbeg 10yo. Wow! The peat/smokiness hit me right between the eyes. It has a fairly similar nose and finish like a good pipe tobacco. (Weird) I see that Balvenie peking outta the back. Also good stuff.

    HELP! My coffee sucks!

We ditched the coffee maker with the exposed element and went with the insulated carafe. Keeps it warm for hours. No need to reheat in a microwave. Guess I'm not a coffee aficionado. I like most of the commercial blends. To me, Starbucks is way to strong and bitter. Good 'ol Folgers served hot...
