Said goobye to a wonderful man on the weekend.

Agreed.  I'm very sorry for your loss, and your poetry to do tribute to the departed was very touching.  All the best to you and your family and friends in this time.  Raising a pipe to you.

    Dunhill Royal Yacht

Dunhill tins go on sale at the big etailers quite regularly compared to other blends - if you're subscribed to newsletters from smokingpipes and P&C and save your pennies for those times you come out with VERY good value on tins.  I think at certain times sales are 4 tins + 1 free and even 3...

    Favorite Sherlock Holmes Quote

"It's impossible to sustain a smoking habit in London these days. Bad news for brain work" Okay, that's from the BBC series and not the original source material, but still... Anyone else who has watched ep3 from the third series - how disappointing that the smoking scene with Sherlock and...

Orderd a a tin of SG Best Brown

Creamy is definitely how I remember it.  I prefer FVF but its good stuff and worth getting to know.  SG knows how to get the most out of VA.

If you had to choose only 5 brands of tobacco.....

    1. Dunhill 2. GH&Co 3. SG 4. McClelland 5. Rattray's Thats going by brands, if we're talking manufacturers you could fit Rattray's, McConnell's, Peterson under K&K, and Dunhill, Escudo, Stokkebye, Orlik, etc under STG, and 3Nuns, Capstan, and MacBaren under MacBaren... am I overcomplicating...

Storing Multiple Cigars in One Humidor

I agree with rothnh - I have a pretty large humidor that stays around 64-66% RH. The only thing I do (besides never including flavored cigars in the general population) is to keep similar cigars together - ie, I keep maduros all on one shelf, cameroon wrappers all in one section, etc...

    McClelland PCCA Beacon Flake

Definitely!  I had a really cool experience a while back in that I got a tin of both together, so it was very interesting to see how they were different.  As I said, for me the Extra was more to my tastes, but I've had no trouble smoking Beacon either.  I think its fantastic that this is...

What is your favorite VaPar ?

Hard to say a favorite - so many good ones. I just mentioned it in another thread and it has been called out in this one, but Beacon Extra by McClelland is easily the best they do by my tastes. Deep, rich, and satisfying as a Vaper. If you're into the richer tasting VaPers like St James...

    Latest order from Mr. Snuff

Nice order!  I'm with you on the McCrystal's Hops (Hopfen Schnupf) - lovely stuff, quite amazing.

    McClelland PCCA Beacon Flake

Thanks for your review.  I found Beacon to be spot on with what you've written here.  Still for me, Beacon, though I recognize it as a high-quality blend for sure, wasn't quite to my tastes (and I'm guessing we may just slide to different sides of the VaPer spectrum).  Not that I wouldn't easily...

Sorry, but the new dunhills are junk

You can, and you do!  Just like other people have their opinions.  It's a beautiful thing. Why call those who disagree with you fan boys? I thought we wanted to get past that attacking persons thing.  You have no reason to apologize for your original post(s), and no one is saying you're wrong...

Sorry, but the new dunhills are junk

Ahh, the old "don't attack the person" then turn around to "attack the person" tactic. Anyway, you came here and stated your opinion.  People disagree with you - how surprising.   I note that you still haven't shown any pictures of this "basket pipe" quality Dunhill you received.  If you want...

    serious collectors, roll call

Interesting discussion here.   I think we can all agree that at a certain price point you can get pretty much phenomenal engineering and functionality in a pipe, then its just down to whether the particular piece briar really sings or not I guess - a game of chance really.  After that price...

    Nightcap in bulk

As an aside and addition to what I said above, this is why I would never buy more than a pound or two of a blend at any one time.  What if that batch wasn't its best due to a crop that just didn't taste right?   I know some folks, if something like FVF comes in stock, will buy 5-10+ pounds of...

    Nightcap in bulk

From what I can tell, Orlik makes stuff like the Dunhill blends and others like Escudo in absolutely huge batches.  They probably make enough tins of a Dunhill blend to last a few years.  When you think about it, it makes complete sense for a huge factory to make huge batches and store the...

    Favorite Boubon or U.S. Whiskey?

Booker's is really good stuff. For something less expensive, I personally think Buffalo Trace can't be beat for the price. ($17-20 in my area)

    Telegraph Hill Review

I've tried so many times to like this blend but it just doesn't do it for me. I love Haddo's and like Stratford quite a lot. Everytime I see a thread or review like this I feel like I should buy another tin and try it! I guess it just doesn't hit the right notes for my tastes, high quality...
