    Lets try this again...

Hello, Gentlemen, So I posted a little while back saying that I've picked up the forum again. Well, shortly after that post I got into a car accident which totaled my jeep, got the flu the week later, then the following week my grandfather's health began taking a turn for the worst. He'd been...

    Reintroducing myself

Hello Gentlemen! I'm unsure if many of you will remember me, but I am back after a long hiatus. School, work, and life became rather overwhelming so I had to put down this sub as well as a few other things. I have now come up for air and have decided to become active again. Happy smoking!

    Short and Sweet

So as the title says, I'll keep this short and sweet. Whoever "The Shadow" is, you're freaking awesome. I had kinda a sucky day today, but when I came home I found a random package waiting for me. The contents completely shifted the direction my day was heading. Inside I found 15 samples of...

Had a couple buddies over to smoke and got out my camera

Here's my first attempt at getting any kind of pipe photography. Unfortunately the lighting kinda sucked, which caused me to crank up the ISO resulting a little too much noise. I also couldn't get a fast enough shutter speed to get a decent enough shot. How do you think I did with that I had...

    Back to the grindstone

So I'm back in school for the fall semester. It's been fairly productive thus far, but has consumed a decent amount of my time, preventing me from visiting the board more often. I don't have much time, but if any of you live near the Lynchburg, Virginia area let me know. I need some weekend...

    Some of my photography

Some sky shots: I'm unsure of how these came out. I can't decide if some of them look too unnatural, of if I actually like that they don't look natural. What do you all think? Birds: Beach: I tried to give these next two shots a kind of retro look by drowning out some...

Chronicle of A Stay In Kentucky

A number of months ago my dad and I went to a number of distilleries in Kentucky along with a group of bourbon enthusiasts from a board my dad made. I took a number of photos, but never got around to editing them. I've been working on fixing a few of them up over the past few days. I took photos...

Next against the shooting block - My review of SG 1792 Flake

So a couple of days ago my dad and I were sitting on the front porch trolling the web for some new tobacco to try. We were looking at some of the higher rated tobaccos on tobaccoreviews.com, and he mentioned Samuel Gawith's 1792 Flake seemed to be fairly well liked. We were both quite intrigued...

    Toasted marshmallows with a stem

So I recently aquired my first meerschaum. I know as you smoke it the pipe turns a nice toasty browm colour. Does the speed of this toasting or the severity depend at all on the type of tobacco or is it all about how much you smoke it? While we've got this discussion going, why not post your...

    Chat Box Ghost Town

I was originally going to bump the topic from "The Village Charter" thread, but thought I would just post a whole new topic now. I've tried using the chat box at the bottom of the home page a few times, but no one is ever even in it. Does anyone use it anymore? I haven't seen people in it when I...

    Any 1911 fans?

My Remington 1911R1 Headshots from 15 yards, body is a mix of 10-15, groin 7.5. Occasional shot for the arms (no they were not missed chest shots). Had a few wide shots, but I wouldn't say it's bad for my second time shooting it and goin through 100 rounds.

    My updated cellar

So since my last cellar pic I've updated with 3 new pipes, a lamb skin pipe/tobacco pouch, and about 8 new tobaccos. My pipe rack is finally full! At this rate I'll need a new rack and more mason jars soon... A new (old) cigar box to hold all my tools, filters, cleaners, lighters, matches...

Just out of curiosity, do any of you know Hank III?

So, are any of you familiar with country music legend Hank Williams Sr.'s grandson Hank Williams III? I'm curious what your opinions of him are if any of you have heard of him. For those of you that haven't, please enjoy: <iframe width="560" height="315"...

To filter or not to filter, that is the question.

Been away for a bit, but now I am back. I got to thinking about balsa wood filters and those without filters. What are your all's preferences? Why does it seem that so many people dislike them?

    Aging Pipe Tobaccos

So I know with cigars you want to keep them in a Spanish cedar case at just the right humidity and temp (the magic 70's, or thereabouts), but what about pipe tobacco? I've been smoking pipes in total about 2 and a half years, and for the majority of that time I've been smoking mostly bulk...

    Most smoked pipe

I don't always smoke a pipe, but when I do I smoke my Nording.

    Dunhill Flake?

So I'm curious what your all's thoughts are on the Dunhill Flake. A friend picked up a tin and allowed me to give it a try, but my tongue was so scorched from heavy smoke sessions that I really couldn't taste anything. I picked up a tin of it for my dad for Father's Day. Think it will make a...

    Happy smoking from Northern Virginia

Hello everyone! Thought I'd pop in and introduce myself. My name is Zack and I've been smoking pipes for about three years now. My current collection is a small one consisting of a Peterson XL17, an Erik Nording freehand and an LHS Bulldog.
