Entirely plausible, but can you actually roll cigs from pipe tobacco? Or to be more precise, would cigs rolled from pipeweed be palatable to cig smokers? Don't know, jus' sayin'. Or are they just making an administrative coarse cut and saying that for the purposes of regulation they're not adding sub-groups to loose tobacco, don't bother us with facts, please?

From what I've read on some anti sites, it is going to be a way they are going to stop tobacco sales. They are going state by state to get state legislatures to write legislation to limit CC tobacco sales via the internet to establish a precedent to further limit sales of all tobacco. The idea is to not legislate tobacco out of existence, but get rid of the legal marketplace mechanisms. So in some states they will not be able to conduct 'net CC sales. They ( the anti's) are convinced and will work hard for this. Life in the 21st century

IIRC there was a major tax increase on RYO , which prompted the RYO producers to re-classify their product as pipe tobacco as a tax dodge. That's what started it. Legitimate bulk pipe 'baccy is now under fire as a result.

Can tinned be far behind as the RYO producers look to other dodges to sell their product?

The issue is, what can we as pipe smokers do? I've written my legislators, but it falls on deaf ears.

I've written the same and got the canned response on how they disagree and the blah blah reasons why. I'd like to copy paste that reason and respond to them why my vote will go to someone else next election.

I think you can have it tied to your credit card and it is an easy work around the credit card "bans" if a store chooses to use it.

Is there anything that can be done? Only thing I know of is to become a member of CRA, Cigar Rights of America. Most of us know of them, but perhaps we aren't all members yet.

CRA is a grassroots organization that is fighting to preserve our rights to enjoy tobacco. If you aren't a member, I highly recommend becoming one.

Will they take a credit card order over the phone, or is it just on-line orders that are being stopped?

The helpful person at Mars pointed out it is not the CC companies themselves, but rather the processor for the CC companies that pulled the plug (likely those companies mentioned in this thread had the same processor). I don't know if complaining to the CC companies or the banks issuing our cards would do any good or not. If you can, continue to patronize these companies while they arrange for new processors

Different processors charge different percentages, and my guess is, tobacco is about to be charged a higher fee, than standard purchases. :roll:
