Brothers of Briar Bomber Squadron Mission Statement

The BoB Bomber Squadron is a group from this site that engages in a monthly bombing of a designated target…as it is a ‘good thing’ and a generally fun activity. The guiding ethic of the Squadron is to enable good guys to do good things. Any and all BoB members are invited to join…given the following:

Basic Operational Guidelines:

1) Any and all bros that want to take part, must PM Commander Blackhorse and state why they want to take part and provide their full name and address…written like it would be for an envelope.
2) It is a requirement that those joining the Squadron shall have passed their 30/30 point…note this requirement at the top of the Trading Post section of the site.
3) It must be understood that those signing on to the Squadron are doing so for the long term…this is not a month to month situation. If you sign up, you are expected to participate each month unless given a ‘leave’ by the Commander for a specific period of time. Any member that misses signing in for any mission will be considered AWOL and ineligible for any and all future missions. You may also request to leave the Squadron for an extended period, and if given permission, you may return and re-activate your membership.
4) It is the responsibility of the individual members to know the general monthly mission schedule and note all orders posted on either the current mission thread and when a new thread is activated, to switch to that for the posting of orders and pertinent information.
5) It I expected that all BoB Bomber Squadron members will be responsible for knowing and following through on all Squadron activities…which will always be announced on the current mission thread. Do not expect anyone to chase after you or remind you of dates, etc.
6) It should be understood by those signing up to be a BoB Bomber that this is not a lottery activity where those that sign up and take part eventually get bombed themselves…and while members ARE frequent targets…so are BoB members who are outside the group.
7) Any and all BoB members in good standing, after having passed the 30/30 Trading Post mileposts, are invited to apply for membership. To apply, PM the Squadron Commander with a short statement as to why you would like to join. Simple. It should be understood that membership is neither automatic, nor guaranteed.

The Missions:

1) It is required that members mail their packages so that they arrive on and not before the Mission Date, which will normally be the 3rd or 4th Friday of the month…so most package should be going out on the Tuesday or Wednesday prior.
2) The announcement of the target selected will be made during the first or second week of the month, depending on the missioin date and will be made by the Squadron Commander. All pilots are encouraged to suggest potential targets...those not in the Squadron are politely invited to butt out. lol
3) Normally there will be a ‘Call to Arms’ made on the Mission thread, directing all pilots to post their readiness on the Mission Thread.
4) Once a pilot has posted their readiness on the Mission thread, their individual Mission Orders will be PM’d to them with the name and address of the target.
5) For the sake of fun, mass confusion and general mayhem…there might be more than one target selected. For this reason as well as general mission security, it is absolutely forbidden for any Squadron member to discuss target name, locations, intended bomb make-up, or any other data with anyone on the Mission thread, via PM or by any other means. Doing so constitutes a breach of security and will be dealt with accordingly.

Your Bombs:

1) Items to be sent can be anything from pipes, serious tobacco selections, pipe gear...to totally minimal fun items - so existing stashes or something with a really minimal cost outlay are potential ordinance resources. I'm looking for a zero or extremely low cash outlay to be possible for anyone wanting to send something...up to you.
2) As of the September 2012 mission there is a limit of $20 USD (yes, this superceeds prior placed on an individual pilot’s purchasing of items used in their payload. Any and all items from someone’s existing stock are fine to send. This does not include postage.
3) NO ONE is to know who sends what except the target. It will not be blind to them of course, but I'll ask that when all the goods are received that a 'group photo' or something like that of the loot be posted. But there is to be no publication by the recipient or anyone else as to who sends what.
4) It is required that you send your package with either a USPS Delivery Confirmation number or other system that provides a Tracking Number…and that once your package is on its way that you PM the DC number, etc. to the Commander.

Special Events and Contests

1) From time to time, with the approval of the Commander, members of the Squadron are allowed to host special activities within the mission or aside from the mission...etc. It has been approved by a panel of BoB Moderators that the offering of prizes and/or other reward incentives may be offered. Again, any and all activities of this nature must be fully discussed with the Commander prior to any annoouncement being made.

Covert Ops

1) Covert Ops are covert. That's all I'm at liberty to say on the matter.

oh and BH, if you are in the Bay Area on sunday, there is a nice pipe club meeting in Los Altos. also if you are in the bay area at all coming up, PM me if you want to grab a beer and or a smoke. would love to hear some war stories!

Not going to be down this weekend. We used to make it twice a year, for wife's company party weekends. One is now being done on Lake Tahoe so we go through Reno. The one still close to the Bay is done in Carmel Valley so all we do is hop into San Jose to pick up some wheels and then we buzz down 101 as fast as we can to avoid the Friday pm crush...then back late Sunday. She's 'management so I get to relax and play trophy husband. These things are way beyond 1st class...into the uberPOSH zone. Thank goodness it's a laid back bunch...that likes to live well...well beyond MY means. Good thing it's totally covered.

Anyway, my war stories are all set in SE Asia. The ones I remember anyway. lol

Count me in. I'm back from a long time hiatus and what better way to get back into the swing?!

Hi folks,

We're getting coordinated. Watch this space for more details as they become available. We may even start a new thread as this one seems to have done the job it was intended to do.

I could be up for co-command if there were others to coordinate with and if you all thought I was fit for the job.

All that to say, I do a fair job of coordinating if the other two want to do a fair job of rallying and theme setting.

As for BH:

Gravel is a great fit, and I would also throw in my name to support a co-command (if there still needs to be help).

And I am in for May.
