I once read, somewhere around here (paraphrasing), if we automatically "need" something just to get by, and couldn't stand to not have it, we'd be considered "addicted." By that same notion, we're addicted to water.

This (fascinatingly good) article was posted as a source of reading, "In Defence of Smokers:"

It's not about the substance. It's about the state of mind associated and represented by the substance. In the case of water, if you are in a state of deep regret at the consequenses of your inability to control your H2O intake, then it's in the realm of addiction. That's basically what addiction is.

The tricky part is when something such as food, water, or sex (which are necessary for survival) causes the same destruction as a so-called controlled substance. Indispensable things, when accompanied by the addictive/obsessive mind, harbor the same potential for self destruction as alcohol, gambling, or drugs. Addiction centers in the mind- not the body or the substance.

The troops are out of the house and I'm taking advntage by smoking a bowl of 1792 Flake. Nic did not miss on this blend!

Monbia

Yes it does. But , as I understand it , the blood sugar level drops very fast. It is like a sugar high and crash.

I'll bring up the fact I have severe allergies and asthma. You know what made it better? SMOKE. It toughened up my nasal passages and I don't have rhinitis nearly as much.
I normally get a sinus infection once or twice a year, but since I started smoking a pipe (Oct. 2011)... not a single problem. I've taken less Sudafed, Claritin, *antibiotics*, etc. over the year too.

Oh, and I enjoy a good nic buzz :D

WTF are you talking about Hombre? This thread is about bad jobs, dead mice, a porno, and bloody sugar bowls or some such..

I guess bloody sugar bowls are better than bloody sugar bowels. :pirat:
