Anything less than total decimation will count as a failed mission!!
Hmmm. I think you meant to sat that there are NO failed missions.  Each one is a great success...for everyone involved.

And...

16 out of 22 in so far...73%!  Only six to go.

It was tense in Ops. Even Trigger, the Sqn's black lab, looked on edge. The last of the Lancs took off a little under 4 hours ago before making a turn over Chipping Sodbury and then headed west for the coast Sausage Side. The target was to be no milk run either but, if enough were to make it through the flak, the target would be levelled. 'Smudger', JNCO Ops, did his best to look nonchalant but to those who knew him well, which included Trigger, everyone could see the wait was starting to wear him down. The pile of crumpled woodbine butts in a tea stained cup that never made it back to the Mess was a sure sign of his growing unease. A momentary glitch of static on the Ops radio jangled his piano wire nerves. He hated this part of the Op. The wait was almost too much to bare...

Then suddenly, far out to the West, peeking through the Henge and several strata of long thin clouds there was a barely perceptible flash...and then a very faint ruddy glow. It was like a Blood Moon. Trigger turned his head away whining softly. The men looked at each other then as one turned their hopefull eyes toward Smudger who sat just staring at the Commo Hut...

Yeah Muttley, I agree completely.  Most of the guys here have never seen a really massive mission.  The oft used term, “Shock and Awe” comes to mind.  This’ll be one that grandfathers tell tales about to a hushed group around the campfire...eyes big and round in the night.  There will be paintings on the walls of caves around the world.
