My goodness - "a 100 CD Set"! This must be the work of an ambitious editor!

I am looking forward to perform some Monk tunes tonight, but if it´s gonna be half the fun these guys obviously had, I´ll be happy:

Ulrich Gumpert is mostly known as a Jazz pianist, but his Satie recordings are my all time favorites. They had been used to accompany the following clip.

Discovered a great jazz guitarist awhile back and finally got a couple of CD's of his this weekend. Anyone familiar with Grant Green? I picked "Idle Moments" and "Feelin The Spirit", the latter of these featuring the great Herbie Hancock on piano. Both albums are sessions from the early 1960's that features some really great guitar work for the time, perhaps only topped by the late, great Wes Montgomery. Any jazz fans on here that haven't checked out Grant Green, please look him up....you won't be disappointed!

Thanks, Scott, for mentioning Grant Green. I always admired his stunning righthand/lefthand coordination that results in an outstanding and very controlled but powerful sound. I´m just listening to this one:

Thanks for the link Thilo. I am going to check that out in a little while. I am most interested to hear his take on the Miles Davis classic "So What". I agree with you on the point you made about his controlled, yet powerful sound. He isn't as proficient as Wes Montgomery and certainly not as flashy as modern jazz guitarists like John Scofield, but I really admire how tasteful his playing is. He is kind of like what I would imagine Thelonius Monk to sound like if he had picked up a guitar, if that makes any sense!
