    Porsche 911 Designer Dies

Ferdinand Porsche died today, age 76. The originator of the 911 design that became so iconic among sports car afficionados, and a design that has survived recognizeably to the present day. I've always had a love affair with Porsches dating back to my childhood. Friends had Lambo Countach and...

    Speyside whisky

I would also recommend trying one or two of the Speyburn whiskys as well. I currently am working my way through a bottle that has been quite surprising. On another note I've found it goes very well with english blends as well, really bringing out the sweetness in the scotch.

Are you looking for a new car?

True, though a lot would also depend on the track. Every road race track is different and would favor different cars depending on the track layout (Just look at Suzuka as opposed to Phillip Island, or Imola). That said, for a pure sports car I'll gladly take the 458, the Lotus or the 911 any day.

    My C & D adventure

A very noble quest indeed. I happen to be lucky enough to have a copy of their catalog (roughly an 8 page booklet. Would have to check at work on exact size) and all I can say is that you might have an easier time finding the holy grail, or possibly the fountain of youth. That said, I look...

Good luck! Their Guilford Courthouse has become a regular in the house though 've tried some of their aro's and been kinda unimpressed.

    Lighter vs. Matches Poll

Matches... unless I'm out of them then I'm not above using a BIC. Zippo's? I just hate that inital lighter fluid taste the first puff or three.

    Do brands really matter?

In my very limited experience so far I've got to agree with Mark. Currently I have a lower end Savinelli (University) a Stanwell Colonial, an MM cob and a no name basket pipe. The Stanwell is probably my favorite. It really doesn't smoke any better than the cob or the basket pipe, I just love...

    Hello from NC

Welcome Dan, I'm right down the road in Kernersville though I habitually swing by a few places in Lexington for some BBQ every so often. If you haven't already discovered them I'd highly recommend swinging by the Pipe and Pint in Greensboro some time. Great folks and some very nice pipes and...

    Not all that impressed

Of which I find Escudo a great and easy to find example, and a solid launching point in this category imo.

    Not all that impressed

I generally find the first few puffs of an aromatic to be enjoyable. After that blech! Definitely agree on the Lat blends though I'm developing more and more appreciation for Va/VaPer blends. Currently I'm in the process of trying to de-ghost a pipe that I used for aromatics and I'm finding...

**URGENT** CRIPPLING TAXES ON PIPE TOBACCO PROPOSED

Gandalf, this quote from your post above says it all really: "[t]he specific types of expenditures that are considered administrative differ considerably across the programs." As long as they can make up definitions of terms to suit themselves the numbers will be whatever they want them to...

Just got back from my local Tinder Box

I've been fairly lucky I guess to have had two stores reasonably nearby. One, a Tinderbox that stocks very little tobacco but a reasonable selection of pipes and another that has a decent selection of both, along with racks, tampers and such. I recently found another nearby store in Greensboro...

    MacBaren Dark Twist

Interesting, I guess I was just stunned by the difference it what I'd assumed would be pretty similar smokes.
