Do any pipemakers other than Peterson offer the P-Lip?

I have an estate Oldenkott with p-lip. I have no any idea of it's age as Oldenkotts aren't into business any more.

    Your "Must Have" Blends

I have several favorite blends that i like very much, but i think i could live happily hereafter if i had an unlimited source for Capstan Original Navy Cut and SG Balkan Flakes only. Guess they must be my "must have" blends.

    Top 5 tobaccos

SG Balkan Flake Capstan Original Navy Cut Rattrays Hal Of the Wynd Germain's Special Latakia Flake Ashton's Artisans Blend Well yeah. On some other day my list would be maybe slightly different, but here's my top 5 now.

    What are you smoking?

Early evening here. Things couldn't be better. Sitting in my back yard terrace and listening to seagulls laugh. Having SG Balkan Flakes in my Lorenzo Spitfire w/ meerschaum lining. Ice cold lager too.

    Old Ironsides status

I'm not sure if we're talking about the same Old Ironsides, but the one, made by Dan Tobacco, is surely not out of production. Of course i do know about the availability at your side of the Atlantic

    lowest outdoor temp you go?

Well i live in a part of the world where cold winters happen every year. When it gets -20 C (-4 F) i don't go out so often than when it's warmer. And i do not include the wind chill factor as i live about 50 meters from the shore, it is always damn windy here. Cold winters are no reason to quit...

    Identifying a Samuel Gawith Blend

SG Chocolate Flake is maybe one of my top favorites. There is latakia in it, but i haven't tasted chocolate while smoking. Maybe there is a slight chocolate in tin aroma, but i'm not sure even about that. Great tobacco it is.

    Dan Tobacco Da Vinci

Thanks for the great review. I'm not so much with aromatics, but among these this is my favorite blend. It is rather hard to get here; i bought mine from Gdansk, Poland where i was visiting few months ago. I found the tobacco shop at the central station, and the girl that was sitting behind the...

Falling back into cigarettes, the horror!

I used to 'borrow' a cigarette from my wife on the mornings when i had no time enough to smoke my pipe. Doesn't happen too often any more; but still say about less than once a week or so. After being without smoking cigarettes regularly for more than a year, they taste like smoking paper.

    SG's Chocolate Flake

You are so right with this. I've tried several SG tobaccos and Chocolate Flake is my favorite. Kendal Cream is another but probably CF beats it. Very smooth and rich taste. I think there is chocolate in the name only as i haven't been able to taste it.

    What are you smoking?

Damn cold here. -17 C (1.4 F) and some heavy wind so it is no weather to smoke outside. Just finished a bowl of Samuel Gavith Bracken Flake in my garage. This was my first bowl of this stuff so i cannot say if i like it or not. All i know now it's damn strong. Feels like my eyes fall off

    What are you smoking?

Lately i've adapted a habit of smoking SG chocolate flake in my Stanwell while taking my dogs out for an evening walk. Today was not an exception.

    Science Fiction

A lot of great books have been mentioned this far; it is a tragedy that not all of them have ever been translated in my language (well most of them are, but not all). Never been much after fantasy but i used to read a lot of sci-fi when younger, some fine stories from Philip.K.Dick, Asimov...

    Stanwells AGAIN

I've had few Stanwell estate pipes this far but -thanks to this thread- just ordered Stanwell Nanna Ivarson. Poor excuse, but early xmas gift maybe.

Annoying comments directed at pipe smokers

This happened the last time i had my annual health check at work. Doctor: "Do you smoke?" Me: "Yes i do" Doctor: "How many cigarettes per day?" Me: "Non. Zero. I smoke pipe" Doctor: "Pipe? Don't you know it is so old fashioned? Nobody smokes a pipe" Doctors last sentence was such a great...

Can you smoke your pipe on the job?

I have no problems smoking at work. I work with ships (both at sea and harbor) and we smoke happily inside although it has been forbidden now for few years. Of course nobody smokes inside offices, near flammable materials or if some non-smoker complains but even the employer knows it is better...

    Shaving soap recommendation/source

I've used several shaving soap thru the years. Tabac and Proraso are few of those low budget soaps that work well. IMHO. Castle Forbes products are very good also, but the price is different. Currently i'm using Mitchells Wool Fat Soap, and i think that is the one i will stick with: unscented...

    Quality over Quantity

Quality over quantity for me it is. Over the years i've had various AD's with vintage hand tools, straight razors, old motorcycles etc etc and finally i've always ended to keep only what i really need and sold out the rest. I've been smoking pipe for only few years now and i think i don't need...

    Looks weird?

Gents, Recently i saw Vauen Zeppelin Pipe on my adventures on the internet world. At first i thought it looked, if not weird, then at least dubious. How can man with self-respect use such thing? Even pricey it is. However. After few days an idea of trying this thing has haunted me. Has anyone...

    What are you smoking?

Been working the whole damn day fixing this old house of mine the way that my 1st lady wants. She has watched too much of those TV decoration shows. Now it is time for the greatest reward: Erinmore flakes in my Stanwell pipe. Enjoyed with cold strong lager.
