    What are you smoking?

Erinmore Mixture (Scandinavian Tobacco) in a Mario Grandi freehand that is actually a surprisingly nice smoker. I picked up the mixture at the airport on my way out of town since it was a very good deal. It is actually quite a pleasant smoke, although I know many dislike it.

    My simple pipe collection

Thank you! I've been smoking Missouri Meers recently, but I'm down to 2-3 bowls a month (I've been working out hard and eating right, so it doesn't leave me much time for leisurely pipe smoking)!

Ol Limey Bastard in a Missouri Pride straight.

    Reminiscing Cuba's Black Market

Tax on cigars is extremely high here: $300 US a kilo. It was a three pack of Siglo VIs (oops), and I thought the price was for all three! I get most of my Cubans from Geneva to get around that pesky tax issue!

    Reminiscing Cuba's Black Market

Great pictures! I'd love to visit Cuba some day. Here in Hong Kong, all we get is Cubans. You can even buy better Cohiba and Romeo y Julieta tubos and some 7-11s! I bought a Siglo IV (I think) for the princely sum of $50 US at a 7-11 last year!

Thank you! I also stand corrected: I learned a lot more about isopropyl alcohol tonight than I probably need to know! From Wikipedia: Isopropyl alcohol in particular is popular for pharmaceutical applications,[5] presumably due to the low toxicity of any residues. I also flush out all the...

    My simple pipe collection

Thank you! This one called to me. I smoked it today and it's my new favorite without a doubt! I know I paid a little too much for it, but I absolutely love it!

    My simple pipe collection

The iso we get here isn't perfumed at all, is not denatured, and ALL isopropyl alcohol is poison if consumed. However, when used topically, it evaporates completely with no odor. ;) I used to say the same thing, but I use it regularly to disinfect straight razors and the like: once it dries up...

    My simple pipe collection

Thanks! I hear salt can actually be bad for the briar: I have soaked the inside with isopropyl, but I didn't want to leave it in there for too long in case I knocked it over!

    My simple pipe collection

Thanks! I agree, but for health reasons, I wanted as much of the stain out of there as possible. I'm not too worried about reaming out a $25 pipe: it did turn out quite well and got rid of the stain in a jiffy!

    My simple pipe collection

I wasn't kidding about the danger: two new additions. A Mario Grandi freehand ($125) and a Molina I picked up on eBay for $24.99 shipped. I had to ream out the bowl with a Kleen-Reem because it was full of purple stain. The reamer did fast work on the briar when it was wet! Still some dye in...

    What are you smokin'?

Had me an Arturo Fuente Curly Head Deluxe last night: been a while since I've reached into the humidor for a stogie since I tend to smoke my pipes much more often nowadays. It was a good, tasty smoke, but the nicotine had me feeling a little green afterwards!

Fujima Lighter Adventure and Review - It's mediocre to sucky

I really like that I can salvage flints--I don't like wasting stuff, so it totally made my day. Now I need to find some good butane locally. It looks like the only good butane in town is going to be somewhere like Dunhill!

Fujima Lighter Adventure and Review - It's mediocre to sucky

Today I learned you can salvage the flints from disposable lighters and use them in a variety of lighters. Took a Clipper apart and tried dropping the flint into my Colibri. It worked beautifully, and it's longer than the one that was in my Colibri, meaning it'll last longer. I was wondering...

    What are you smoking?

Some of Milan's Cavendish 205 out of the same Aldo Morelli: 1/2 bowls both times. Definitely need a good lunch now!

    What are you smoking?

Some four year old (for me) Theodorus Niemeyer Flying Dutchmen. I believe the tin was from the 90s. It was the first tin of pipe tobacco I ever purchased. I asked the guy for pipe cleaners and pipe tobacco. Being a new smoker, I had no idea what I was buying, and he chuckled when he sold it to...

Fujima Lighter Adventure and Review - It's mediocre to sucky

Thanks Kyle! So far so good with the lighter: it lights the first time every time and stays lit until the lid closes. I have to use up the fuel and refuel it a couple of times and change out the flint at least once to see if it's really going to hold up.

Fujima Lighter Adventure and Review - It's mediocre to sucky

Absolutely! I never smoked them regularly--ok, that's a lie, but usually no more than 1-2 a day. Still, I feel much better without them in my life. Here's the Colibri with one of my little Spydercos: they match beautifully.
