    Beck's Ol' Limey Bastard

Great smoke. It's balanced and smooth with some mild sweetness under the peat moss. I can't compare it to earlier renditions of MM965,but I like it in its own right.

I've had another excellent transaction purchasing a pipe from Scott. No hesitation recommending him in the highest manner possible. Excellent communication and fast shipping.

    What's your favorite MM Cobs????

I like English blends in the Country Gentleman and VaPers in the Diplomat, but that may be an idiosyncrasy. The Great Dane is a nice shape, too. On the recommendation of this board, I purchased two of the Walker Briar Works forever stems and alternate them among my cobs. Don't get me wrong: MMs...

If you had to choose 5 GL Pease blends...

I need to try Odyssey. Thanks for the tip!

If you had to choose 5 GL Pease blends...

Given the parameters you set, I'll second Chelsea Morning and Picadilly for light English blends (although you're missing out on some really good ones like Meridian, Westminster, Abingdon, et al). I quite enjoy the flavor profile of Robusto, if you want something with cigar leaf and a bit of...

I had the same positive experience with purchasing a pipe from Scott. He is a friendly communicator who ships very quickly. I recommend him highly.

    Seattle Plum Pudding

It's really good stuff. Reminds me a bit of Penzance (as does GLP's Quiet Nights) with its deep, rich, boomy flavor profile. Plum Pudding is a lot easier to acquire, though. Dang. Now I'm going to have to go smoke some.

    Nearby Tobacco Shops?

I live in Central Mass, so I don't know how helpful these will be for you, but here goes. There's Tobacco Haven in Brookline, NH. They have pipes and tins from Peterson as well as OTC tobaccos. In Fitchburg, MA, Rebel Smoker is a little mom 'n' pop run by a very friendly fellow. He keeps a...

    Cavendish Attitude

McClelland Navy Cavendish is worth trying. It's got rum topping / casing, but it wouldn't be confused with Captain Black. High quality tobacco one wants to smoke slowly to enjoy.

    bentbulldog

I'll add my two cents: terrific BoB fellow. My tin and jar arrived quickly and well-packed. I'd happily do business with him again and I recommend him highly.

    mattia76 and VikingClubPipes

Purchased a very nice Peterson from Mattia76 / Viking Club Pipes. I can't say enough good things about him as a seller and a pleasant guy on the other end of email. Plus one from me, too.

I just tried GL Pease Embarcadero

It'll clear your sinuses, no doubt there!

I just tried GL Pease Embarcadero

Something I noticed on my first smoke of Embarcadero yesterday afternoon (y'all got me curious) was the amazing flavor when exhaling through my nose (retrohaling, snorking, whatever). It was far spicier than anything I tasted elsewhere in the smoke and had a quality of incense and cedar. I'd...

    Full Flavor Low nicotine recommendations??

I've had good luck with SPC's Plum Pudding and GLP's Meridian for full-flavored latakia mixtures / non-nicotine-coma blends. Having not tried Nightcap yet, I can say that I haven't had trouble with any latakia blends, as far as nicotine goes. ;) What gives me trouble--I think--is the...

    BigBehr

I purchased a Barber b-line from BigBehr. The transaction was as smooth as you like--good price, fast shipping, and fine email communication. I'll happily do business with him again, should the opportunity arise. Nice fellow.

2 More Edward's For The Collection

Very nice. Far nicer than the Edward's Pot I scored off eBay. Enjoy!

    Latakia blends

If you're liking Penzance, then Seattle Pipe Club's Plum Pudding is a fine option. Personally, I think Penzance is far richer, but my wife hates the smell (and she's usually very tolerant). As I don't yearn for bachelorhood and Penzance is hard to find, I don't smoke it too often. Plum...

    Taste Issues

I recently reached a point where (1) I couldn't taste certain flavors in EMP and (2) every heavy latakia mixture I was smoking tasted the same. The change in EMP was half me and half the tobacco aging in a way that took some edges off. The rest seemed to be tongue bite or, perhaps, tongue...

International Pipe Smoking Day - 2012!

Do well, Puff Daddy! I began today with some Gawith Westmorland in a Country Gent as I ran some errands around town. Then, my IPSD offering: I popped a tin of Balkan Sobranie reissue. Smoked about half of the bowl in my Sav 320ex and it is bliss, absolute bliss in a tin. No idea what it USED...

    Label designs

I'm glad I wasn't influenced by the label design. Magnum Opus is a fantastic blend. The label, not so much.
