    Jim's McClelland Tudor Castle Review.

I recently finished up 100g of TC and am very impressed. I find it to be rich, deep, and with the 'earthiness' that I always like in a tobacco giving it an opaque and smooth character. The Perique, as already mentioned, stays in the background yet it does come out occasionally with that...

Orderd a a tin of SG Best Brown

I smoke both BBF and FVF and find them to be excellent. To me, I would have to say they have their own distinctive characteristics. BBF is richer and smoother while I find FVF to be deeper and darker in flavor. As far as prep goes, FVF, when dried to my liking, becomes hard strips that I cube...

    Escudo

I've tried several VaPers including Pease, H&H, and McC SJW and recently began to smoke Escudo. So far I enjoy it the most. I prefer that my VaPer not be Perique forward and Escudo strikes a great balance between the VA and Perique. Wish it were available in bulk!  :)

    "If You're the Sort"...

My cobwarden, with the Forever stem, falls under fifty bucks. My latest pipe, an estate Stanwell silver spigot blasted billiard, was a hundred bucks even. This year I want to buy some better pipes, all estates, so my budget will have to double.  :)

Escudo in my Sav blasted billiard.  :)

    PERIQUE

You may also want to try McC St. James Woods...I still have some left while I smoke my Escudo. The difference between, say, Escudo and SJW is that SJW has a stoved VA base giving it a deeper, richer flavor than Escudo. I like the sweet VA side stream that I get with Escudo. I really enjoy them...

    Hats

Great to see men in hats...and with pipes, too! I have a couple of berets (non military), a Donegal tweed cap, a Hanna Irish wool walking hat, a black snap-brim that is my dress hat, and a couple of baseball-type hats, one of which states "Old Guys Rule". Long live hats and pipes! 8)

    Obsidian Pipe Stem Oil

My concern is if any taste is imparted into the vulcanite and if the product is toxic in any way since I do put the stem in my mouth. :?:

    Ben Wade -- opinions

I've been smoking my new Ben Wade Town & Country now for a couple of days and it's just fine. It's a well made, quality pipe. I had to strip the wax off the stem with alcohol because it tasted horrible; other than that I couldn't be more pleased. The large stem and bit make for a good...
