Getting my son to sleep in his crib: The fun begins tonight

Update again: Little dude has been sleeping in his crib without a problem ever since that first night (fingers crossed). He only wakes up once for a bottle. :D   :bounce:

    Blood tests for Nicotine?

Gotta watch out for that second hand smoke. :)

    Blood tests for Nicotine?

So, assuming an individual smoked one or two bowls of tobacco a day and didn't inhale...how long would nicotine traces remain in said person's system for purposes of detection in a blood test? Purely theoretical question of course. 8)

Blender's Gold Cherry Cavendish: Not bad for a pharmacy bac

So, when I first started out...I bought a cob and a tin of Blender's Gold Cherry Cav from the pharmacy. My initial impression was that it was enjoyable, but reeked of cough syrup and left a stinging sensation in the back of my throat. I opened the tin back up a couple days ago and loaded up a...

Tongue Bite due to Poor Lighting Technique? Help a newb out!

But of course! I ended up doing (just as KevinM advised)...attempting to merely light the surface of the tobacco with shallow puffs instead of slurping the flame all the way up the stem. It resulted in (just as Yak mentioned) three char lights before finally taking. But the smoke never got...

Getting my son to sleep in his crib: The fun begins tonight

After he fell asleep, he woke up one time for about ten seconds, then fell back asleep for eight hours straight.

Getting my son to sleep in his crib: The fun begins tonight

Thanks! Alas, no warrior plug to be had. My victory celebration involves MacBaren vanilla cream and a healthy slug of Glenfiddich 12yr. :pirat:

Getting my son to sleep in his crib: The fun begins tonight

Live update again: Son is asleep now, after 42 minutes of continuous hollering. Daddy needs a smoke.

Getting my son to sleep in his crib: The fun begins tonight

Thanks! I shall need all the luck I can get. I have half an hour left until i go home. I'm giving myself a pep talk internally...like Leonidas gave the Spartans before they marched to their glorious death. Or something. :)

Getting my son to sleep in his crib: The fun begins tonight

Not sure about whiskey...if his preference in baby cereal is any indicator of what his preference of adult beverage will be...then he is an Oatmeal Stout fan. :)

Getting my son to sleep in his crib: The fun begins tonight

Well, the wife and I decided that tonight is the night that we get our 6.5 month old son to sleep in his crib. Until now, we have had him sleeping in his pack-n-play in our bedroom. We tried the crib approach before, and the most we got was a couple of hours of sleep before he wook up and cried...

Sanded the stem on my fixer-upper...now what?

Hi guys, I have been working very slowly to repair the old Kaywoodie I bought at the antique store. I cleaned up the bowl wonderfully (salt/rum), and the other day I took some sandpaper to the stem to remove teeth marks and oxidation. I am a little unclear on the next step to take. As of now...

Tongue Bite due to Poor Lighting Technique? Help a newb out!

I figured it out. :) I enjoyed a mild, tasty smoke and now I am not scared of non-aromatics. I am halfway through a bowl right now and have had no harshness or bite to speak of so far. Yay!

Tongue Bite due to Poor Lighting Technique? Help a newb out!

I have in my possession a Virginia/Burley blend (the first non-aro blend I have purchased). I know that such a blend must be sipped slowly to avoid it burning too hot and biting back, so I do smoke it slowly. But when I light it, whoo boy it bites the heck out of me and the first few sips are...

anyone have problems with burns on top of mouth?

That's awesome!! Word is, he has just a little bit o' power in that right hand of his too. :D Henderson and Couture stick out in my mind as two of the best clinch fighters of all time. I've been meaning to enroll in a sub grappling or BJJ school...but stress and marriage has made me fat...

anyone have problems with burns on top of mouth?

I keep trying to envision this...I assume this would be from an over/under, right? Also, OP...I have burned myself horribly on pizza before. As well as hot fried apple pies from drive-throughs. Those things are deadly, I tells ya!

    Non-aromatics for an aromatic lover?

Thank you all so much for the great suggestions! I now have ideas for what to buy for my next 'baccy order. I think I'll designate my current pipe as my "aromatic" pipe, and the new one I buy will be for non-aros. Dunno why, but it seems to make sense to me (and is an excuse to buy more pipes). 8)

    Last Night's smoke

Responsibilities will come, don't you worry about that. In the meantime, live it up and enjoy! My funnest and most carefree years were 18-23 (23 was when I graduated college and entered corporate America). Aside from the few hours a day I attended classes...I pretty much chilled out and pursued...

    Last Night's smoke

I am Daddy to a six month old boy...so my free time is pretty much non-existent. Nonetheless...I managed to sneak in about a half hour last night to pursue gentlemanly indulgences. It was colder than all get-out last night (which, around here, translates to 38 degrees. Northerners, please don't...
