Freddie's playing on the "Interplay" album has been blowing me away! Sounds like we're somewhat simpatico when it comes to music! And I'd love to hear you play!

I sense a theme building...Fine Young Cannibals, The (English) Beat...good stuff E!
I saw them at the US festival, in '83, and I've heard they're sounding pretty good lately as well.

Dude, I never got a chance to see them live. Kinda the problem growing up in Tucson AZ- musical isolation!! I´ve been on a Ska kick over the last few wks here. These guys pretty much started it....

Hey E, we would have gotten along great as kids, I was BIG on The Specials, The Selecter and The Beat. It was the first musical subculture I really tried to belong to. I still have some of the ridiculous clothing that I wore!

Bigtime!! We gotta start getting more stuff up here on the board.

I think one of the most "outside mainstream" live shows I did go to was Black Flag (early Henry Rollins). I was around 16 at the time and had to sneak in the club. Talk about subculture!

One band I really regret never seeing live was Devo.

I used to go to a lot of punk shows in Hollywood and Long Beach, and got a lot of grief because my hair was "too long", thus starting my lifelong battle with people who take themselves too seriously. Ah, good times!!
And despite my close proximity to them, I never saw Black Flag. I guess even as a kid, I was somewhat of an anglophile, and I was drawn to bands like The Damned and The Adicts. The best live band I remember was The Toy Dolls, who played the Palladium back in '86. The Dickies opened the show, and they were my favorite local band.

I'm listening to a podcast about an episode of the Andy Griffith Show from 1960, which is my favorite TV show ever.

This tune always takes me back to my younger days, hanging out a place in Hollywood called "Jumbo's Clown Room", and a particular young girl that used to "dance" there. Ah, youth...
