HIGH FLIGHT
OH! I HAVE SLIPPED THE SURLY BONDS OF EARTH
AND DANCED THE SKIES ON LAUGHTER-SILVERED WINGS;
SUNWARD I'VE CLIMBED, AND JOINED THE TUMBLING MIRTH
OF SUN-SPLIT CLOUDS,-AND DONE A HUNDRED THINGS
YOU HAVE NOT DREAMED OF-WHEELED AND SOARED AND SWUNG
HIGH IN THE SUNLIT SILENCE. HOV'RING THERE,
I'VE CHASED THE SHOUTING WIND ALONG, AND FLUNG
MY EAGER CRAFT THROUGH FOOTLESS HALLS OF AIR....
UP, UP THE LONG, DELIRIOUS, BURNING BLUE
I'VE TOPPED THE WIND-SWEPT HEIGHTS WITH EASY GRACE
WHERE NEVER LARK NOR EVER EAGLE FLEW-
AND, WHILE WITH SILENT LIFTING MIND I'VE TROD
THE HIGH UNTRESPASSED SANCTITY OF SPACE,
PUT OUT MY HAND, AND TOUCHED THE FACE OF GOD

JOHN G. MAGEE ON SEPTEMBER 3, 1941

Bob's Chocolate Flake and then a bowl of Brigadier Black Alamo in my Savinelli Horoscope straight rusticated with a fine cup of Gevalia coffee. :)

Enjoyed Uhle's "Blend 114" in my Ben Wade 100 Hand Model Denmark, at the same table with Kevin Godbee of PipeMagazine.com, in the Chicago Pipe Show Smokers' Tent, Pheasant Run Resort, St. Charles, Illinois. Great person and enjoyable, I mean really enjoyable, conversationalist. What a great show! Loved being able to talk to so many wonderful people about pipes, tobacco, and just things about life. Got a kick about a personal remembrance of Preben Holm from a dealer, never heard about it before, but will give me a memorable picture of the man. Looking forward to and saving up for 2014.
