First Taste: Vincent Manil's La Brumeuse Semois

As of now, I believe it will only be the La Brumeuse. I'd love to try the bouchons, though.

First Taste: Vincent Manil's La Brumeuse Semois

Want to edit my previous comments:  Its terrible.  Tastes like a Macanudo dipped in Menuedo.  :pig: :pig: :pig:

First Taste: Vincent Manil's La Brumeuse Semois

I could tell right out of the gate that a lot of people would not like it. However, I am not one of them. I think it is unlike anything I've ever had. It is one of the best smokes I've ever had.

    Semois by Vincent Manil ...

FWIW, I've heard from some it ghosts, others have said it does not.  My plan is to try it in a Sav pot that tends to complement burleys well.  From what I understand, it is closest to burley. Ryepipe - you're welcome.  I hope its great and is a success for Mr. Manil and the Pipe Guys (I am a...

    Semois by Vincent Manil ...

... is now in the US and available for preorder from the Pipe Guys. I believe its limited one per customer, which is great because of the potential for eBay gouging. I got one, excited to try it when it ships at the end of the month! http://thepipeguys.com/product/la-brumeuse/

    The Truth About Cake...

I second this. I find it spreads the carbon around evenly so I end up with a nice flat, well-portioned cake without any pits.

    Jim's MacBaren Reviews

Great reviews! Thank you! Man I just love ODF. Capstan Blue is a new favorite.

    ODF + BBF = Amazing!

I love Perique.  I was actually thinking 8oz might be too little ...

    ODF + BBF = Amazing!

Perique you say?  Sounds like a plan! Edit: where do you source your perique? St. James or Acadian?  I've read that a lot "perique" is actually low quality burley with a chemical additive.  Yuck. Curious if you've tried the McClelland blending perique.  I may pull the trigger on a 1/2 pound in...

    ODF + BBF = Amazing!

Fantabulous indeed.  As a general rule, I don't muck around with what the master blenders create.  All too often there is subtraction by addition, but IMO, this actually worked.

    ODF + BBF = Amazing!

I am a great fan of both Old Dark Fired and SG's Best Brown Flake. It occurred to me that they may complement each other so I rubbed out a ratio of 3 ODF flakes to 1 BBF flake and mixed them. Whoa ... I am over the moon! If you like these flakes, perhaps give this a shot.

    Finally Got To Try Stonehaven

A fine, fine smoke. I agree it has less body than FVF and a burley undernote that almost tastes like steak to me sometimes. I have about 4oz left that I'm hoping to age, but I'm not sure I can keep out of it.

    tried And So To Bed

I really like ASTB. It seems to have a lot of orientals, sort of light and fruity with some tang. I don't understand the name though, I prefer it during the day. Maybe it'll help me nap ...?

    ESCUDO ewe!!!!!

Last week I bought a can of Escudo produced in 2013, the first I've had produced this year. It tasted flat, flavorless, unlike what I was used to at all. My buddy at my local B&M had a tin from early 2012 so we did a comparison tonight to see if it was just me. Nope. Its definitely different...

    First Full Virgina Flake

Well I taste Madagascar vanilla that travelled in a can of peanuts by rum runner through a nor'easter on Lake Ontario during Prohibition.  Can't mistake that nuance.  No sir.
