Looking for a "zesty" "citrusy" or "lemon" Virginia flake

Those three are at the top of my list.  I was considering Fribourg & Treyer Golden Mixture as well.  Thanks for your suggestions. 8)

    latakia

Hello lb, Unfortunately I did not see the article.  Did it say that the wood from the mastic tree was burned to smoke the Latakia tobacco or mastic itself?  Mastic is a resinous substance derived from the sap of the mastic tree.  If mastic is used, I wonder what process would be employed to...

Looking for a "zesty" "citrusy" or "lemon" Virginia flake

Thanks for your suggestions.  I looked at the blends recommended and most have a lemon or citrus flavoring.  I should have been clearer.  I was looking for a Virginia with a citrus taste to it without added flavoring.  I found the following on another forum that sums up what I am after: "I 've...

Looking for a "zesty" "citrusy" or "lemon" Virginia flake

As far as Virginias go, I smoke Marlin Flake and SG FVF among other "darker" Virginias. I sometimes see yellow or golden Virginias described as being "zesty" or having a "citrus" or "lemon-like" flavor. Anyone suggest a Virginia flake with these attributes?

    Home blending

Hello Ozzy, Speaking of VaPers, have you ever made Perique? I thought I saw a post somewhere on the forum about making Perique. I thought I would give it a try, but I am not sure what leaf works?...Burley, Dark Air?

    Home blending

In a search to find a VaPer with a good dose of Perique, I asked for some suggestions here on the forum.  Many recommended that I purchase McClellands 5100 Red Cake and mix in some bulk McClellands Perique.  I made four batches of 5100 RC/Perique: 15%, 25%, 35% and 45%.  For me the winner was...

    Sillem's Commodore Flake

Thank you.  That was helpful.  On tobaccoreviews I have read that it is a strong, full-flavored blend and many have commented on the high dose of nicotine.  The nicotine doesn't bother me.  I was more concerned about it being harsh, so I am happy to hear that you found it to be smooth.  From...

    Sillem's Commodore Flake

Has anyone tried Sillem's Commodore Flake?  Sounds like an interesting Latakia blend.  It's rather expensive and hard to find.  Is there an English blend similar to it?  I have been thinking about giving it a try, but trying to keep my TAD under control - I have a lifetime quantity of English...

    source of vintage tobaccos gone

I agree with you guys about the price the excessive price gauging. It became a going trend. Years back, I bought a tin of Balkan Sobranie from the early 70's for $110. In my mind, I debated whether or not to spend this money for a small tin of tobacco. With all the hype surrounding Balkan...

    source of vintage tobaccos gone

The other day, I listed a vintage tin (early 80's) of Dunhill Elizabethan mixture on eBay. Shortly thereafter, eBay removed my posting. eBay sent me a message stating that, regardless of the collectability of a tin, it can not be sold on eBay if the brand is still in production. Now looking...

    Is www.thetntshoppe.com still open?

About a year or two ago, I ordered some Tambolaka stick from Indonesia www.thetntshoppe.com. I went to that website today to order some Tambo cigars and I discovered that is down. I don't know if they are still in business or if their website is under revision/maintenance. Does anyone know if...

    McCranie's Red Ribbon/Flake

That's the price that I have seen on eBay for the older McCranie's. I visited McCranie's website and I saw tins are going for $11.50. At that price, I may order a tin or two.

    McCranie's Red Ribbon/Flake

Or should I buy two pounds?  One for now - one for later.  My TAD is getting the best of me. 8)

    McCranie's Red Ribbon/Flake

You have me convinced. I can buy a pound of 5100 RC for the same prices I have seen for a single tin of McCranie's. I have been meaning to try 5100 RC anyway. I will jar the 5100 RC and let time take care of the rest. Thanks Gentlemen much appreciated!
