Tobacco and my ups and downs

Funny how life and tobacco seem to go together. Been away from my pipes for a couple months, never really thought about them. I finally picked one up yesterday and packed a bowl of some flake by the name of Black Woods. The tin was opened 4 months ago however, it was put in a Mason jar, so...

    Old Dark Fired

Opened a tin of Old Dark Fired today for a first try. It is a tasty VaBur and was smokable out of the tin. Another new tobacco to always have in my rotation.

    Favorite Virginia

I originally started pipe smoking to help myself cut down on those nasty cigs. About the only time I smoke cigs now is when I cant my pipe. One of the first tobaccos I smoked was recommended by McCranies. (lucky enough to live only 5 miles away) It was their First Lite. They also told me it was...

    Milonga

Early into pipe smoking I realized I was not going to be a fan of aromatics. That said after six months in a mason jar Milonga is actually becoming very smokable yet still nice and moist. Did not care for it when I first opened the tin, way to sweet. Like it was supposed to be eaten with a...

    New old tobacco

I have after almost a year of pipe smoking settled in to some sort of a rotation. I have eight mason jars with tobacco. Some has been in the jars longer than others as I find I smoke some more often as others. I have three to four open tins that I smoke often enough I see no need to transfer to...

Ah, the old fold and stuff -less is more

I think tobacco does have better flavor when flakes are left in flake form and smoked. If only it was that easy. Different cuts, thickness and dryness all make a difference in the way they smoke. Look forward to enough years of pipe smoking to get it rite every time.

Ah, the old fold and stuff -less is more

I have not had much luck with any of the flake tobaccos I smoke using the fold and stuff method. They are normally rubbed out and dried a few mins before packing. I was in a hurry to leave the house today grabbed a Burley Slice folded it put it in the pipe and left it alone. After first light...

    Wessx Burley Sliced

Wessex Burley Slice.......Two bowls into this new tobacco and I already like the flavor profile much better than Solani ABF. Thought it was more enjoyable and smoked with less attention. Still looking for my favorite Burley. This might be it. Anyone else tried it?
