    Pease "Cumberland" Review

Since I posted in this thread 3 years ago, Cumberland has become one of my favorite tobaccos. The aroma is reminiscent of stewed fruit, providing a full bodied, savory smoke with some good complexity! I made sure to load up on some extra tins for the cellar!

    Need Opinions/Info on 4th Generation

I am a huge fan of the 1855 Blend. It is a great straight VA. It comes as a beautiful broken flake of bright yellow Virginias, offering the smoker flavors of dried rains and honey. Honestly, one of my favorite blends.

"The Ketchup Smell" - McClelland Red Va Blends

It was noted on another forum, discussing the same topic, that McCrannies Red Ribbon and Red Flake are actually single crop productions where McClelland 5100 is a blend of multiple redVA vintages to maintain consistency. So the Red Ribbon and Red Flake are similar to Christmas Cheer and 5100 is...

    Changes in the Cuban Embargo

This might open up Cuban leaf to other manufacturers as well. Right now Cuban leaf is not used in any other blends due to embargo. So even if Cuban Cigars aren't all that great, the possibility of available blending options will been exciting!

    Aging and Orientals

I have a couple of tins McClelland Grand Oriental Yenice Agonya from 2007 and they are amazing. I feel the Orientals have aged really well along with the Virginias in the blend.

    Any Burley Perique suggestions?

Take a look at C&D's Burley Flake #3. It is a blend of burley's with a bit of Virginia and Perique. It contains the Nutty aspect you are looking for with a little fruit from the Virginia and Perique at least to my tastes.

    JF Germain King Charles

You will probably have a hard time finding it online. If you are lucky enough to have a tobacconist close I would recommend checking there. The little guys will have a better chance of maintaining stock then the more popular sites. Good luck on your hunt.

    Reasonable price for Stonehaven?

Is $150 reasonable for 8oz of Stonehaven? Depends how you look at it. If you live in the USA, I would say no. A little patience and some persistence, you will find it at the regular price. Just keep hunting. Now, if you live anywhere else in the world, $150 is pretty reasonable assuming it does...

    amount of Perique in VaPers

You can also look into the new C&D Cellar Series Chenet's Cake. It sounds like it had a very health dose of perique in it!

    virginias

Top notch suggestions so far. I will echo Union Square, Christmas Cheer and Dunhill Flake. I will also add Samuel Gawith Full Virginia Flake!

    Morning Smokes

I was going to go with a little GL Pease Union Square this morning. Figured a nice mellow, sweet Sunday morning smoke is just what the doctor ordered.

Great post monbla. I couldn't agree with you more about enjoying the present. Thanks for sharing.

So, has anyone tried any of the new C&D releases?

I have grabbed a couple tins of each blend, but have not yet tried any of them to date. My plan is to try this blend at 1 year old, 5 years old, 10 years old and 15 years old. I would love to be able to try one every year until it hits it's peak. But I just cannot make that kind of investment at...

WHY WOULD ANYONE PAY $500 OR MORE FOR THIS?

Though not necessarily my style, I do recognize the artist / pipe makers work. And whether or not I like the pipe is one thing. What impresses me is that this guy has really developed a standout style when it comes to pipe making. It is very easy to distinguish his work.

    Unwelcome Surprise

The picture looks more like rust than mould, at least to my eyes.  How does the tobacco look? It might not be a problem.

Escudo sale coming up at 4Noggins.com

All I can say is I am glad these sales seem to do well. If they are a success, hopefully Rich will keep having them!!!

    strong full bodied VA

My current favorite VA is Erik Stokkbye's 4th Generation 1855. It is a pure, straight Virginia that offers a wonderfully sweet smoke. That being said, it demands a really good technique in order to get the flavor and not burn the crap out of your tongue. But very much worth the effort if you...

    Compton's of Galashiels

I am pretty sure Compton Blends are priced as high as they are due to the fact that the shop is located in Canada, thus, subject to some of the Canadian taxes. Fortunately for Compton customers, and the owner of the shop himself, not all the taxes.
