In an update to my previous post on this thread (which BTW was two years ago) I run a copywriting, web development and graphic design business, started from scratch just after my last post.

I work with my son (he started this month) and a graphic designer.

I do the writing and web design, and I'm glad to have escaped the corporate world.

Corporal at a 1400 bed county corrections facility and active Fraternal Order of Police union member. Blame the bad economy and two years of promotion freezes for no Sergeant. Now I think I'll just keep my seniority and ride out my last 10 as a Corporal so I don't miss my youngest's childhood from getting bumped to 3-11s.

Also amateur web designer, and Dr. Vapenstein at vapenstein.com. Also, along with my fantastically gifted partner Donley, we make the world's best tobacco extracts for use in E Liquid, available through our site at want2vape.com.

The important job titles are father and husband though.

I'm a preacher and also own and run a Christian daycare. I do some photography on the side. I got tired of being offered low paying jobs (I have an MBA) and am finally doing what I love. Life is good.

Good to hear you bounced back so well Paul - good stuff!

I too have changed careers. I've moved into management consulting after our little family business went on the skids. I'm loving it.

Today is Wednesday. I'm an Internal Revenue Service Tax Examiner. At the end of the day on Friday.....I'm happily *****RETIRED****!!!!

I've been a hospital administrator, a clinical practice administrator, a university program administrator, an undergrad and graduate instructor, a public school district administrator, a volunteer police officer just for the fun of it for over fifteen years, and now I'm wrapping up as a Tax Examiner.

Ask what I've done for a living? Everything. Now I'm going to be a pension collector and how sweet it will be. As of Tuesday (Monday is a legal holiday) I'm a full time pipe smoker and scotch tasting officionado. My outgoing voice mail message at the office is "Gone Smok'in and Drink'in. I'll return your call if I feel like it but don't count on it."

Starting next week I will be changing to a new position but staying the same department. Will be doing a lot of process mapping and improvements as well as a lot of number crunching.

Recently started a business with my wife making hand made body products.

I'm 28 now, hopefully can retired before I'm 40. At least that's the goal and then have fun with the rest of my life. You only get one, why work the whole time?

Before the Great Recession, I was a Sr. Business Analyst at a large electronics company. I worked there for almost 11 years. In early 2009, I was one of 22,000 to lose their job.

I'm currently a Warehouse Mgr for a small custom imprint company (mugs, metal bottles, t-shirts, glassware, etc.).

Quite a shift from sitting in a cubicle and doing software design + database maintenance to slinging 30-50 lb boxes and driving a forklift.
But it pays the bills until I hit the Lotto. :joker:

I am the IT Specialist at a 501(c)3 non-profit, Disability Resource Initiative, in Bowling Green, KY.

I'm a multicraft aerospace certified tig welder/fabricator building a variety of mil-spec items for Northrop Grumman who supplies America's finest.

I am currently a student in a Pre-Med/Biology degree in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I was wondering if there are any Doctors in the house, I would to chat your ear off :p. I am only a Sophomore in my undergrad.

But. For cash, I cook at a local Applebee's, making some delisious-ish food.

Thanks Mike

Sorry to have taken so long to reply but I usually read recent posts and this one was lying low for a while. Sorry to hear about your business but congrats on the new-found freedom! I too am sucking up the ability to make my own decisions.
