    ESCUDO ewe!!!!!

I hate to hear about this. I've got a tin back in my cellar that I fairly recently purchased from my local shop. Hope it's not the nasty stuff.

I am officially a "real" pipe smoker now

Hey, if it wasn't for relights, why would anyone buy a $100 Old Boy? I love mine, and use it often.

    Hello!

Welcome to BoB, Tate! Great to have you aboard.

Looks like the younger Bro's gotta cut back on your Starbuck

I might drink a lot of coffee, but let me tell you, I've never once let one of those infernal energy drinks cross my lips, so I've got to be doing better than a lot of people. Besides, I offset any highs in my blood pressure from caffeine with the zen-like experience of smoking a pipe almost...

    LEFT HANDED LIGHTER?

I feel your pain, Ron. I actually do a lot of things right-handed myself, shooting included, which is good considering that my shotgun is a side ejector, too. I never had to force myself to learn to do anything right-handed, some things just feel more natural to me that way. I don't consider...

    LEFT HANDED LIGHTER?

Sorry about the inconvenience, Ron, but that's one of the things I love about the Old Boy and similar lighters - the fact that FOR ONCE, left-handed use is the standard, and right-handers have to learn to adapt to OUR WORLD! BWAHAHAHA!  Nothing personal. ;)

    Hello from Bloomington, Indiana

Welcome back! I've got a pipe smoking buddy in school down there right now, a younger guy named Colin. Perhaps you'll run into him at the Briar and Burley someday. Tell him I said hi if so. Nice to meet you!

    First bowl of Penzance

Penzance is a very smooth tobacco, perhaps my favorite in the full English (Lat Bomb, if we want to be crass) genre. Sounds like just the thing after weeks of being limited to Carter Hall. Welcome home, Tom!

    Drugstore tobaccos in 1921

Nice! That's a better spread than many pipe stores have these days.

Pipes and Beards, mostly beards: one woman's perspective

Dag! I kinda envy you bearded guys now. I can't really do the beard myself. No matter how I take care of it, mine comes in like a worn out Brillo pad.

Best pipe of my life, and you to thank!

That first "Eureka!" moment is the best. Hope you have many more great smokes!

    Spilman Mixture

Great review, Dan! I've been a little curious about both this and Distinguished Gentleman, so I might have ti give it a shot. The price is right, too: you can hardly go wrong if you buy the 7oz can, but the small tins are a little steep.

    A tale of three tobaccos

Excellent reviews, Andy.  It's been a while since I tried EMP, too, and even then it was in bulk from Reigel's, so God knows how long it had been sitting in that big jar, losing it's flavor, while they sell Steve's Choice and Match It by the pound.  Needless to say, I found it a little flat at...

    Prices on Dunhill 'bacs

I think it's an elaborate profit-shifting conspiracy. Seems the prices at my B&M went up by an equal amount recently. :P

WARNING: PIPE RUINED BY ISO ALC. !

It could be that the pipe had a thin lacquer finish.  Many pipes are finished with wax, but some of the factory pipes are done with lacquer: it's less labor intensive to apply, dries like lightning, and does offer a decent protective coating that retains it's shine better than a waxed pipe...
