West Coast Pipe Show - My Pics

I wanted to share a few select pics from the show, then at the end, I'll like my full photo album of all the pipes on the tables. A couple of characters! Russ Ouellette holding a tin of his show blend. Russ giving his tobacco/beverage pairing chat. Guest Speaker Steve Fallon giving the...

Guess who won the Seven Day Pipe Set Raffle at the West Coast Pipe Show.... THIS GUY!!! I can't tell you how shocked and excited I am to have won this set! I will have MANY more pictures to post later, which I will probably put in an IMGUR album for easier digestion. I got shots of EVERY pipe...

West Coast Pipe Show 2012 - I know it's early...

Let me stop in a moment and say "Hi!", and let everyone know that I'm attending the show, and I'll be at the dinner Saturday night. I know I haven't been around much. Life is kicking my butt, and it'll be nice to get away for this weekend.

Review - Jar Alternative - Good Grips POP Container

Follow-up note: When traveling, be careful where you put this. If you pack this in, say, a backpack with other heavy-ish item, said item may accidentally press too hard on the button, causing it to release the seal. Then, if you were to set the backpack down, the lid could move off the base...

    Tobacco shops in Denver

Sounds like, at some point, we should put together a BoB get together at Edward's.

New Lighter - Tsubota Pearl “Eddie”

Nice! It won't light in a gale, like I said in this thread, but it's way better than my normal lighter. The polished silver is very nice, but I'm partial to black. I didn't like the fake/fancy options, so the plain black was the way to go for me. Nice that they do have some finish options...

You talk'n 'bout the charcoal filtering?

    Need Pipe Lighter Recommendation

I think of the Pearl as a type of Old Boy. Just... an old boy with a slightly newer design and built-in tamper/pick thing.

    The ultimate man cave

Looks like you tried to pop in the gallery link as an image. It doesn't work that way. The broken image link will take you to the gallery which has the image Bub is trying to share. I'll repost it here for convenience: http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2012/03/29/garden/20120329-UTAH-4.html

They're going out of stock, and the prices have gone up. I ordered mine on March 20 and it was $93.40, only $5 more than the Old Boy.

    Need Pipe Lighter Recommendation

Yes but.... you miss out on the opportunity to look prissy and self-important when you gleefully admit you spent $100 or more on a fancy gadget that does the same thing as a gadget that costs $20 or less! :lol!: Picking fun at myself, of course. But the Pearl IS a nice lighter...

+1 to the Pearl. See my thread here: https://www.brothersofbriar.com/t16617-new-lighter-tsubota-pearl-eddie P&C has a really good price on them. See the thread for the link.

    John Patton's Storm Front

+1 to this. Very delightful in a corn cob. Mine came in today with my lighter, and I just had to break them both in together with a little Storm Front. I got the small ones (great for sneaking in a quick smoke) and it didn't disappoint. I may just make corn cobs my regular smoke and save the...

New Lighter - Tsubota Pearl “Eddie”

My lighter came in today (along with my corn cobs, yay!). I broke it in on a corn cob of Storm Front. It is an old-boy style, as suspected. It has a nice large tank and lights very, very well. As for performance in wind, It's much better than a regular lighter but not a silver bullet. It'll go...

Review - Jar Alternative - Good Grips POP Container

No, not at all. Long term storage (or cellaring) implies you're storing a whole bunch more tobacco. At my BB&B, the 8oz jars are less that $1 a jar. This container was $10, or 10x more. If you've got the money to burn, go for it, but for me, the cost difference is prohibitive to store all my...
