Like many pipe smokers, I have to relight during my smoke. It usually occurs when there is about half a bowl left. I always dump my ash out before I relight but I have noticed that I always get a really burnt taste after relighting. Am I doing something wrong or is this normal?

I don't think it is pipe bite during every smoke. Could I have burned my tongue at some point and now the smoke is just irritating it? I'm thinking about holding off from pipes or cigars for a week or so. any thoughts?

Currently, all my pipes are rather large and fill the hand well. I have a small basket pipe that I bought because the size seemed convenient but it doesn't smoke very well. I'm trying to find a decent small pipe. I have been eyeing the Savinelli pocket model pipes, just to give a point of reference.

I'm generally new to smoking flake tobacco and am having a good deal of trouble getting the tobacco lit when using the folding method. Any advice is welcomed. I would really like to keep using the folding method or similar "quick" pack type method.
