    Cakes and Flakes

I've just discovered a love of flakes and cakes. I'm burning my way through MacBs Scottish Blend and a pound of "Matured Cake" from my local 'bacconist. The Matured Cake is just lovely. Seems like a Danish blend. Anyone have any ideas on what "Matured Cake" could be?

    MacB in a Pete

Dunhill Navy Rolls in an 11FB

Just cracked the tin. Best Navy Rolls IMO. Smooth, not too moist. I love rolling it out myself. Perfect pipe, also. Cool smoke. Easy to light/keep lit. Hardly any ghosting from the Vanilla Flake previously smoked. Yay to rolls and flakes!

Best of Show out of a 999

That was sooooooo needed today. So mellow, so smooth, so...easy to smoke.

    Red Wine Tobacco

When I started pipes in 2002ish, the local 'bac shop had a bulk red wine aro. Inquiring recently revealed that the maker has since gone out of business. Anyone familiar with a cool smoking, red wine aro? Or failing that, how one could make it?

    Pipe tool recomendation

Can someone point me to a more sophisticated tamper/reamer/poker tool than the Czech one? Looking to spend less than $100, but that can be bumped if something nice is out there. Thanks!

    Memories of Pipes

When I was a kid (at least physically, some might argue my maturity level...) my mom's parents lived next door to a man that smoked a pipe. I distinctly remember that smell, but have yet to be able to find the same room note. Was an aromatic. Had to be "low end" as he wasn't by any stretch well...

    A bit wet

So I tried the Navy Flake mixture, soaking wet. I punted, tried Luxury Blend....was gurgling within minutes. Is this the pipe? It's a brand new Royal Irish, wiped the bowl with honey. I've not had this happen to me before, and I don't like it.

Mac B Vanilla Cream Flake Cut in a 999

No bite, great blend. Details: Perfect moisture level IMO. Love rubbing out my 'bac. I love flakes. Not too sweet, not harsh like an English blend. Simple flavoring, creamy, not over done. The small tin is easy to carry around, as is the 999. I've taken to a "tripple light" rather tan the...

Thoughts on Petersons from a Junkie

It likely isn't a secret I have a fetish for Petes, so I thought I'd mention some random thoughts and things now that I'm back into full pipe smoking swing after a decade off - Silver Spigots are a little smallish Army mounts are needed IMO on all pipes. I burned a bowl of Gold Blend in my SS...
