Celebrating 55 years of Pipe Smoking

Congrats. Lucky Lucky man and I'm glad for you. Due to heart surgery, I had to give it up after only a couple of years. Although I am sitting here with a pipe in my mouth although not packed or lit, I can still smell the bowl.

    Hope All Are Doing Well

Ha! Yes, every damn day, but I'm afraid I'd probably be like the alcoholic who probably shouldn't have a one glass of whisky once a month. I had planned on smoking a bowl every year on the anniversary of my surgery, but made myself drop that plan for the same reason. Cheers!

    Hope All Are Doing Well

Been awhile since I posted, but have been reading some. Little over a year since the bypass. Have not smoked a bowl since, but boy do I miss it. Kept my pipes and still clench them now and again. The good smell still lingers in them. I can't bear to sell them. Wonder if I'm the only one that...

Well Brothers, I guess my pipe smoking days are over now

I'm doing lots better, thanks for asking. Chest is still bad sore from where they split me open, but I'm riding my new bike (the peddling kind unfortunately, and went turkey hunting today. The new diet sucks rat balls, but I'm sticking with it until my next round of labs. If they come back good...

Well Brothers, I guess my pipe smoking days are over now

Arrived back home last night after my Christmas present of a surprise Christmas night quadruple bypass. I've been advised to give up all forms of tobacco. I was a heavy smokeless snuff dipper. A maybe 1 bowl pipe man and really only that much in the spring and fall( best outside time to smoke in...

    Shop Blends

Good thing about my shop is you can get a sample to see how you like it. No telling how many tins I've bought that only have, and will ever have, one or two smokes out of it. The guys at my shop blend their own and are always coming up with new ones. Some work, some don't. They even do...

    Shop Blends

In Mississippi. A place in Jackson called the Country Squire. Been in business for over 40 years. A true pipe shop. They even have a weekly pipe podcast on their website. Older owners have died and now some young folks who love all things pipes are running it. Yes, we are lucky to have it.

    Shop Blends

How many smoke mainly blends from your local shop? I love a little shop about 60 miles away. I found a blend from there that is my main smoke, and another that I smoke when in the mood. I used to be mainly a Frog Morton On the Bayou and Squadron Leader man, but as long as this shop is around, I...

    Secret Societies

I was in a fraternity. I had a damn good time. I now know people in certain places that make my life easier. Remember, it's not WHAT you know, but WHO you know.

    Just for Fun

Let's say you are ship wrecked on an island. You have one pipe and an endless supply of only one tobacco. You are stuck there for many years. What pipe would you want and what tobacco would it be?

Did I get hosed or did I get a decent deal? I'm new to buying estate pipes. My 1st purchase was this one. Be honest with me. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280390957043&ssPageName=ADME:B:BCA:US:1123
