Royal blend is awesome...it's one of the 2 lat blends I smoke. The other being Penzance. To me the orientals definately take charge with the lat in second...its the way I prefer english/balkans. If you like burleys you should try Peretti Somerset slices....an awesome burley flake only rivaled...

Embarcadero is on my next tobacco order. I have some Cumberland...it is a very good blend, but the Kentucky is too forward for me. When it comes to burley/virginia/perique I like the virginia to be in front. But it certainly is something different in that catergory.

Agreed with the sentiment about aromatics. I'm not a fan in general. The only one that I've ever tried and liked to even a small degree is Boswell's Berry Cobbler, which I keep on hand if I'm around a crowd who is objectionable to pipe smoke.

I wouldn't worry about it. I have a Boswell pipe that's drilled the same and it smokes great.

If I'm not mistaken some of the twists were originally meant for chewing as well as smoking. Something about not being able to light up in a mine lol.....prob a good idea.
