Savinelli Question: Roma vs Oscar Lucite

I think the Roma series is one of Sav's most attractive. Also I believe the Lucite stems are thicker and not as good for 'clenching'. Personally I would go for the Roma. That's just me...

    Caminetto

Sorry, that page reference didn't seem to work, but it's a Caminetto Dublin, I think from '93, I won for $37.99. It seems to be in excellent condition...

    Caminetto

I just won, or rather stole, a Caminetto on eBay,http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rt=nc&nma=true&item=260743206953&si=mv3oKiGwJd9xVQ4Wls9tDXMu4Us%253D&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT, and I don't remember the significance of the numbers on the shank. Can anyone fill me in?

Please recommend a Burley blend to me

I think the Solani flake is the standard, and also McClelland's Burley by the Slice is a great one, too. I rub it out really well, and it's like a grown-up, very classy Prince Albert. Good stuff.

    Luciano Pipes

I have a Pease/D. short but fat straight brandy/billiard. The only thing I don't like about it is the stain color- It's a very dull walnut, about the same as a $60.00 Peterson military bit I also have. I use the Luciano for Larsen's Signature, which it agrees with completely.

Using spirits to clean a pipe

I use Courvoisier periodically. Nice flavor.

    Something seems wrong here

Thank God... People forget that- this country is more than wealthy enough that no one should suffer and/or die because of a lack of money. Before the usual BS comes, no one makes their money on their own. It's all a social process. We pay taxes for our own and others' betterment. If you don't...

How to post pictures in the forum.

Varied designs, original lines and a deliberately limited productions make Mastro de Paja pipes objects destined for the most demanding and refined collectionists. Beautiful and loved, they are also excellent pipes because they are worked with care by those who know them: a successful synthesis...

How to post pictures in the forum.

As I say, This pipe is like an 8-ball with a diamond-shape shank attached. It says Mastro de Paja on one side of the shank, Italy on another, and that's it- no grade, series, or anything else. It smokes so smooth and dry and relaxing it's as though I'm smoking opium. GREAT pipe.

Don't let this happen to you!

The description says it needs 'manly hands', I guess that's to hold it tight enough that the bowl doesn't break!

    Neerup

What could anyone tell me about Neerup pipes? I've never owned or smoked one, and I'm thinking about buying one. I like the look and the price (!) but I would like to take advantage of everyone's experience first.

    Stanwell finishes

Thanks - I had thought it must be some kind of paint or laquer, because having tried to stain pipes black, it is very hard to get them that dark. The stain just doesn't cover that well. Thanks again for the info.

    Stanwell finishes

Does anyone know what the finish is done with on the Stanwell ebony pipes? Is it the usual stain and finish or are they laquered or even something else? Thanks for any info!

    Aromatics. What would it take?

The Sillems tobaccos are very good, I especially like the Red and the Blue, and Solani tobaccos are always fantastic, with the unfortunate exception of their White and Black, which his like sucking on a blowtorch.

    Softees - Who uses 'em?

I also use them, but I cut off the raised end and just use the flat tubular part, since I don't bite on the bit anyway. This lets me sort of forget they're there.

    Savinelli/Brebbia

I bought an older ( very older ) Savinelli Punto Oro straight billiard. I think the # is 1028, but I don't have it with me. Here's the thing I'm asking about: On the left ( driver's ) side of the shank it reads 'La Savinelli'. So far so good. On the passengers' side just opposite that, it has...

    ??,s about LLOYDS Oom Paul

It is egg-shaped, black, with the 'knobby' finish; as I say it smokes fairly well, and has a certain ugly kind of charm.
