    Curing

Is there a certain responsibility when briar is first received by a pipe maker for he or she to properly cure the briar? I believe there is. Whether the briar is oil cured or air cured... it must be cured beyond the processing procedures such as boiling and kiln drying. There is nothing worse...

    Over Reaming

Will a pipe that has been over reamed be more susceptible to burnout? Are there any other things to consider before purchasing a pipe that has been slightly over reamed? Thanks, Milan

Balkan Sobranie In Stock @ cigarsandpipes

You can actually put a tin of it in a cart for $13 and checkout. Don't have to make a phone call. Don't have to talk to anyone. No limit as far as I know. I picked up 5 tins. You can just straight up buy it from the convenient solitude of your own sofa. Get it while it lasts. Milan

    Balkan Sobraine

I got an email notification that pipesandcigars got some back in today at 9:05AM. I checked my email at 9:40AM, went directly to their site, and they were sold out. Was anyone lucky enough to get a hold of some? Has anyone seen it popping up anywhere else this year? Milan

    High Humidity

What are some things one can do to control high humidity readings in a humidor? Thanks, Milan

    Macanudo 1997 Vintage

I bought a couple of these this week and really enjoyed the one I smoked... but why did they put the metal ring on it. It tore up the cigar when I removed it. Is there a reason for it? Thanks, Milan

    Desktop Humidor Cigar Storage

I just purchased a new Savoy desktop humidor. I was wondering how others store their cigars in a smaller sized humidor and if it differs from a larger size? The primary question is... do you leave the cellophane on your individually purchased cigars or do you remove it prior to storage...

    Seconds

Doe anyone have any experience with seconds? I saw some Alec Bradley Tempus seconds advertised 20 sticks for $50. Seems like a pretty good deal? I've just never purchased seconds. I suppose the idea of seconds makes me think of college roommates and drunk chicks. Cheers & Health, Milan

    Dentist

I went to the dentist today for the first time in 3 years. I thought that I was going to need a root canal, but ended up needing a cavity filled in a tooth that wasn't even bothering me. I got a cleaning while I was there and the woman remarked that my teeth had stains that wouldn't come off...

    B&M Enigma

I recently purchased a Heeschen cobra off eBay. Great pipe!... and got a great deal actually. Well... the guy I got it from ended up being a really nice guy. Ironically enough, he actually tried to sell me a burnt out Rad Davis volcano months previous to this purchase. He ended up sending me...

    Stems & Tenons

I'm trying to understand something. I'm under the impression that a pipe's stem and tenon are cut from one piece of rod, but I guess maybe I'm wrong? When a pipe is made... the tenon is made separate and fit into the stem? Is this right? Anyone? Thanks, Milan

    Pipe Weight

Why do sites like Iwan Ries and Cup O' Joes not list the weights of their pipes? I need to know the weight of a pipe before purchasing it, as I like to clench... and heavy pipes make for a sore jaw. Am I out of line here?... or does anyone else feel that weight is just as an important...

    Is Your Pipe Feeling Naughty?

Saw this and couldn't help think of turning my pipe into a gimp... http://www.alpascia.com/detaill.asp?detail=18718 Nothing like a little leather hood for your favorite briar.

    Vices of the 1880's

One of my local metro parks is holding an interesting event this Sunday and I'm thinking of attending. It's a presentation on the vices of the 1880's. The public is invited to help strip cured tobacco from the stalk, watch plugs be made, and learn more about coffee, tea, beer, and gambling...

    Cake

Is building cake really that important? I mean... I have pipes with a nice cake and without, but those that have a nice cake built up aren't really any better than those that don't. Those with a nice cake may smoke slightly cooler and retain a deeper flavor profile, but the difference hasn't...

    Michail Revyagin

Does anyone own a pipe made by Misha? He is ultra-inspiring to me. I love his approach to making pipes. Check it out... <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/1aWGyRVwpmc" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" frameborder="0" loading="lazy"...

    Inconsistencies

Has anyone else had a problem in consistency with bulk tobaccos? I placed an order with two different online shops and the tobacco smells and tastes different even though they are said to be the same. Why is this? The shops storage methods, different batches slightly different, aging... maybe...

    Car Repairs

My 2003 Mercury Mountaineer is in the garage getting it's transmission rebuilt. I do not know the repair cost yet, but am expecting between $3000 and $3500. I've already put at least the same amount into it this year for things like ball joints, bearings, body work, etc... Anyone else out...
