Which Tinderbox Blends should I try?

I will be doing some traveling next week and plan to visit a Tinderbox store in Metaire, LA. I am wondering what store blends to try. I'm steering toward tastey aromatics. Otherwise I like Balkans and Burleys. I read up on some blends on TR and made a list of sorts to help narrow things down...

    More on Low Country Santee

Inspired by a post monbla made earlier, I recieved a tin of Santee with my last Smokingpipes order. At first bowl, I was pleasantly reminded of a long forgotten Tinder Box blend I enjoyed years ago but I didn't quite get the taste monbla described. I say at first. Well, after a few bowls, I'm...

    GL Pease Jacknife Plug

Man, you guys are the greatest raving about this sheat. After half a dozen bowls, I'm really enjoying this. Rich, spicy and mildly sweet. Another one to stock up on.

    Stash Licorice Spice Tea

Other than an occasional cup of Earl Grey or regular Lipton tea, I'm not what you would call much of a tea toddler. Over the years, I've sampled a smorgasboard of brews and never made past half a cup. But, a month or so ago, I picked up a box of Stash Licorice Spice tea and absolutely love...

Why pipes should be sold in the men's department.

Proof pipes are a fasion accessory. We are entitled to them.

What do you collect besides pipes?

I like old Lionel trains. Like this 203 switcher from 1940. After a good cleaning and replacement of frayed wires, it runs like a bat out of hell. It makes awesome electrical smell only a pipeman can appreciate.

    Vector Pipes?

My local B&M has some cool pipes by a maker called Vector. Anyone know of these? They are bent apple briars with metallic candy colored finish (blue, red, etc). The finish looks more like plating of some sort than stain. I did a google search and didn't come up with much except Vector lighters...

    C&D Burley Flake #4

A good way to describe C&D's Burley Flake #4 is Prince Albert picking up a heavy metal guitar and cranking it with Virginia singing softly in the background. The flakes crumble very easily and after 30 minute dry time, the crumblings load and light easily. The Burley is rich and meaty along...

    GL Pease Blackpoint

I bought a tin of this a couple months ago. After a couple bowls, it didn't seem to do much for me and it has sat in my misfit tin pile since. Maybe it's because I cracked the tin and it sat for some time but this morning I stoked up a bowl and was pleasantly surprised. I suck at describing...

    Savinelli Alligator?

I'm no stud but I figure I could fool women with a Savinelli alligator hanging out of my mouth. They look so cool! Anyone own one? Are these good pipes?

    Pipe Catalogs

I've been getting pipe and tobacco catalogs and brocures with practically every on line order I've made in recent months. Pipes and Cigars especially. Unless I'm all wet, we weren't getting these two or three years ago. Whether it be my local B&M or on line. Back in the 80's, practically all...

    Best Brown No 4

God is this tasty sheat or what? Like seasoned top sirloin followed by a good slap of lady N. NOTHING compares to this. Freakin Nirvana. I think I'm gonna order three pounds of it and call in sick for three months.

    Pete Disorder

I'm sure this happens to most of us. I was at the local B&M a week ago and I spotted this Pete in the case. It sort of jumped out at me. Seeing I just bought my first Pete a couple weeks prior, I moved on. But the image of this sweet, simple beautiful billard remained in my brain all week. It...

    Dunhill Nightcap

I didn't realize Nightcap has been back for some time now (was away from pipes for awhile). I understand it's blended by Orlick. Anyways, got a fresh tin and after not having any for a couple years, it's like the old school Nightcap I remember. A pleasant Latakia kick along with some sweetness...

    Anyone tried C&D Purple cow?

After reading about this on the tobacco review forum, I am very tempted to toss in a tin of this with my next baccy order. I love Latakia bombs and it sounds to give a good nicotene buzz. It mentions Maduro cigar leaf and I've always liked the cigar taste of Robusto so Purple Cow sounds like all...

    Froggy on the Bayou

McLelland Frog Morton the Bayou. Liking standard Froggy as much as I do, I decided to give this a try. At first I was not impressed as this Froggy came off with a sour note. But, after a few bowls, the sour note wore off and the Perique really kicked in adding sweet and spicy notes to the...

    Dublin suggestion?

I'd really like a Dublin. Preferably around $75. I know of the dealers but I'm wondering about brand and make. Any suggestions?

    Back in the briar again

I don't quite know what happened but pipe smoking sort of went by the wayside for me a couple years ago. I mean like I put together a nice collection of bowls, had a some great blends stashed, and poof. Bye bye. A few days ago, I stumbled on a few blends, loaded a few bowls and ahhhhh. A...

    Prince Albert Cherry Vanilla

I picked up a pouch of this yesterday at the book store. For a drug store blend, this is rather good. Really good. There is not much for chemically top note here. I've puffed several bowls and can't seem to put it down. It's got the rich mellow taste that PA is noted for and the cherry sweetness...
